Ok. Squicking here. How the heck does one hemorrhage your vocal chords ??!!  I have no idea. Maybe Cassie or someone could explain it to us. The exact words were, "... a hemorrhage into her vocal cord. I wrote to her vocal cords. I don't know if that makes a difference. Seems the same to me. |

Of the vocal chords seems to imply that those itty flaps that vibrate in a near-closed position burst or got tattered in bursting. Into the vocal chords seems to imply that the blood vessel breakage was actually in the throat area and just pooled into the vocal chords. Structural-type difference. [evil grin] Have I squicked anyone else out yet??!!  |

She probably had a blood vessel burst with some continuous bleeding that is affecting her vocal cords. If they cannot stop the hemorrhaging, then she is screwed. Vocal rest has to be maintained for blood vessel repair. She has had vocal problems 3 times now and had to cancel concerts within a span of less than a year. |

OT but I just read on my Yahoo mail homepage that Adele has to cancel some of her 10 city US concert run because of a hemorrhage to her vocal cords. I'm still amazed how Adam did 100+ concerts and never missed any and kept his voice healthy! His professional training has really helped him. Ok. Squicking here. How the heck does one hemorrhage your vocal chords ??!! ETA: I know just enough anatomy that I have a vision in my head that is not going away! Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew......... She's a smoker. We need our medical people to tell us if that could contribute. |

I'm still amazed how Adam did 100+ concerts and never missed any and kept his voice healthy! His professional training has really helped him. Well that....and the fact that is voice is freakishly super human helps a bit. THAT and the fact that he grew up doing musical theatre. Adam learned early on to listen to what his voice was telling him. He probably knows when to push it and when to hold back. There is something to be said for all those MT professionals who are doing 7-8 shows a week, 50 weeks a year! |
