I find it strange that as one of many famous alumni of the prestigious 'Brit School', Adele wasn't encouraged to use proper technique. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRIT_School

Waaaa!!!!
I had this awesome post to put next to craazyforadam's with my Fantasy Band and then the whole thing went poof!!!! ACK!!!!!
[grumble, grumble, grumble]
Crap, don't have time to retype the whole blasted thing, so I'll just put down this:
A band is greater than the sum of its parts. REM was more than Michael Stipes, Metallica is more than James Hetfield, and no matter how insanely good Freddy was, Queen was greater than just him alone. Certain people have the imagination PLUS the skills to create transcendent experiences (ex. Eddie Van Halen, who could make a guitar SING). Ergo, without taking the time to rewrite WHY I chose the people below, I simply present....
Hoppers' Fantasy Band: Adam Lambert (lead vocals); Justin Hawkins (lead guitar, backup vocals), Zac Baird (keys), Fred LeBlanc from Cowboy Mouth (drums) and on bass..... what the heck, maybe Tommy. He doesn't have the skills, but the kid sparks those around him.

I find it strange that as one of many famous alumni of the prestigious 'Brit School', Adele wasn't encouraged to use proper technique. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRIT_SchoolI'm really not taken aback at all. Does a football coach tell his star running back to 'hold back'? Or does a baseball coach tell a player to refrain from the stolen base or diving for the great catch? No. Adele's technique has a market of millions. No producer, unfortunately, is going to tell her to stop doing what is selling. And when her vocal chords scream and explode, her promoters will tell her to rest and return ASAP. I hope someone out there is looking out. Adele certainly should be. She is smart and she should know. That's where the personal accountability comes in. JMHO

I know I said I would post something everyday but life threw me a curve when the lab I worked for closed. I have been lurking here because this is the place I come to that makes me happy. Everyone has such different ideas on what is sexy, not sexy, good look, not a good look and so on. But the one thing EVERYONE agrees on is that "WE LOVE THIS MAN"!! I will say that I have missed GELLY'S posts and pictures. I hope all is well and she is back soon!! cupofadam Thank you. I'm sorry bb for what you're going through. Come here often I'm sure it will help you. I know it helped me get through some rough times. Hey everybody I just wanted you to know that I'm really trying to read and respond to all the pm's but they are so many I can't make it. I'm overwhelmed once again... I didn't want to make such a big deal out of it , somehow it became.... I will try to reply to all of them today.

craazyforadam, I love your premise that it DOES matter. Sometimes I think I'm just an old fogey that just doesn't get how pop music today works and it's probably true. I agree with almost everything you said and will add that a big dream of mine for Adam is to be able to afford a full band and back up singers so he can preform without a backing track. Is this just never done in pop these days? Prince is pop? I remember on interview when they asked Adam what he would do for a live show with unlimited funds and before the massage chairs for everyone (isn't he thoughtful? ;D) he did say a full band first. Gaga can afford it and has the talent to pull it off(I still think she half lip syncs when dancing though ???) but chooses to use a backing track. One more reason it is so important that Adam has musicians who he feels comfortable with is unlike gaga, he doesn't play an instrument(besides his voice . With his insane ability to improvise, he needs to feel safe when he steps on stage and that must be hard without significant time spent playing together. I'm just babbling to a probably dead thread but just think about the videos we go back to again and again. They are usually songs that don't have the backing track. We love to see how he changes thing up and it's hard to change too much unless it's all live. He needs radio hits to get a bigger audience, but becoming known as a strong live act is where money and longevity happens. One thing I remember being shocked at was an interview when Monte was discussing FS WLL and how crazy it was that they were improvising live on stage. I thought, really? Almost every band I've seen does this but remembered he's been playing with Madonna for so long it probably was new and exiting for him but I want people, like Zac that night, who can instinctively do this. Adam +good songs + a band that could keep up with him would be unstoppable. What you said about magic happening with a tight band is so true. You can put on an amazing show with a backing track and dancers and effects but to me that becomes more theater. The same thing night after night. Don't get me wrong, whatever he does I will will follow. I drank the Kool-aid and there's no going back. ETA: Hoppers, love your fantasy glam band!

Dead thread, I am sure. but just wanted to say to this
Gaga does have a full band. It's a back up band just like Adam's. KatyPerry has a full band and she interacts with them, as Adam does. And her lead guitarist is HOT! ;D

And her lead guitarist is HOT! ;D Sorry, I wasn't making much sense, I was talking about bands who use a backing track. A full band to me could be a trio if they don't have recorded backing vocals and instrumentation. I don't really follow anyone else but I would guess there are degrees of relying on backing tracks Like Britney is basically lip syncing, some others like Katy who do heavy dance moves need more help during those times. Adam is amazing in that even when he's dancing and strutting around his voice is all him and he never sounds out of breath which makes him one of the few pop people who could get away with no backing track. He already does pull it off in the encores and acoustic sections. Even though the singing is all him he would need another musician or two and some back up singers to get the full sound of the songs he uses a backing track with. I was just dreaming out loud. I love live music and it's just my preference that everything be live. I realize most of todays concert goers don't even notice or care. Off to google Gaga's guitarist.... 8-)
