Somehow I am not sure why people still have doubts and are surprised every time we get a new confirmation.
BUUUUZZZZZZ! THIS ALBUM WILL BE GREAT - and TOP 40 RELEVANT. BUZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, if I am missing out on an opportunity to flail or perhaps I am just all flailed out or perhaps I never was so much into that flailing biz to begin with.
I am more a go your merry way....this album will come eventually, no point being on this exited - disapppointed-roller-coaster all the time. Too much life going on to worry about that. Husband, kids, work, stuff to do....just normal life....sorry for sounding like a downer this morning, but this is how I feel.
I have no doubts about the type of direction and the level of quality of the album within its perceived market since many months.
Too many people have been saying great things on this board and other places already. Yes, a few people here on this board do occasionally hear a little of this inside buzz from afar.
Other signs:
Producers came on board (like Pharrell or Rico) for example, who have choices who to work with. If they see a project opportunity they have to decide: Is this top40 material? Do I put my weight behind it or do I go against it. They don't come on board of a lousy album. But their coming on board certainly makes something strong even stronger and more Top40 leaning and less easy to ignore in LA and other urban or rhythmic leaning radio markets.
Of course, there is talk behind the scenes...over a glass of beer. And while talk is cheap (or not so cheap with PDs ;-) ), there is no question in my mind that those that do that backroom talking have some credibility to lose too, so they will phrase things in such a way that insiders know what to make from it.
And from all I have ever heard, everybody on the inside is reading the tea leaves in exactly the same way.
THIS ALBUM IS GREAT! And very much CHR!
There is a reason that BBC is all of a sudden pretending like Adam Lambert is somebody they have been buddies with since years? Hhuh? Well, it must be that a bit of that buzz was loud enough to wake up those sleepy-heads over in London.
Obviously Q102 and Z100 are gushing since months, nothing new there, but it is other smaller markets whose behavior is interesting. I hear WWFM and IIHY more on the radio now in my area than I have when they were the official singles. I guess, some radio stations feel a need to catch up a bit. Instead of dragging their feet to play Adam (like it was in 2010), now they want to make sure to not be the radio station that did not.
I am thrilled for Adam to see that this is happening.
Now I just keep my fingers crossed that his promotion plans are great and everything runs smoothly and that his switch to DMG turns out to be worthy and working out for him. Those are the two big question marks at this point, not the album itself, imo.
