The songs on BFM are registered with ASCAP as written by Adam and Monte You can find most things by searching for one artist name or the other (sometimes last name first) by going to www.ascap.com/ace/ There is NO WAY they won't get compensated if they are listed as the writers- so that is at least good news. There are two types of rights though the song or composition and the recording (think of it like the tears for fears guy makes money every time someone plays Adam's version of Mad World and he even gets a small royalty called a mechanical every time someone buys the album or single) who owns the recordings, also called masters? This I don't know but frankly in the modern music business owning the publishing is much more valuable since people don't buy as much music as they used to. Another update - feel free to spam them if you wish- it seems like whoever is behind BFM started a twitter profile - @begformercyadam . Ironically the people who are flaming this profile and having fits are doing the same thing the ultra religious did for Marilyn Manson - Getting him attention! How do you know, that there is NO WAY Adam will not be compensatee? Maybe the reason the sogs are out is, that he doesn' t own the rights to those songs anymore? That would explain, why he wasn't able to stop them from being published. And if that is the case, he will not be receiving any money, either. As far as I understand... IMO, ofcourse  And the best thing for the new Twitter site would be, to get it publicity. So IMHO opinion, it should be ignored, as well. Sorry, I'm pissed... 8-) |

Just to let the board know, that apparently Monte has stated [privately] that he will indeed be making a comment when he gets "ALL" of the facts straight.
No idea when that will be, but that was the info I was given.
In the meantime, feel free to speculate, but be aware that Monte apparently intends to make a formal statement at some point.

No stones from me. The only word we have from Adam is that it isn't his vision. This is not that uncommon of a story that earlier work gets released through a legal loophole. (shrug) Business as usual as an Adam fan - wait and see And yes... was a big time lurker. I just feel strongly about when people put their own opinions or feelings behind limited information - it's dangerous.  |

...but does not change the sliminess of the advertising/release timing . Yep - this is the part that pisses me off the most. It seems so caculated and self serving. JMHO It's absolutely disgusting. The dead silence from both Adam and Monte re Monte's innocence speaks volumes. If Monte were innocent, I think Adam would have tweeted to clear up the confusion. I wonder how much of Monte's income and support have come from Adam fans. Where would he be today without riding Adam's coattails? Most likely unfunded, with many fewer CD sales, and few in attendance at any gig he might have scored. I never liked the CV music anyway, but even if I did, there is no way in h@ll I would buy it. |
