That would be a good move 8-) Yeah, kind of got that impression when the RCA execs said that they were thisclose to being certified platinum. The last Soundscan number we got on FYE it was at 824K and selling around 800 units a week. It will end up Platinum but probably not until after Adam #2 in released. The new single will most build up demand for the new album but it will also increase sales of the old album -- FYE. Certification is based upon wholesale shipments and includes some units not included above. But that usually amounts to +10% or so putting FYE around 900K-920K in wholesale shipments. Close but not there yet.

Is it worth PR wise to certify it so you will be able to say "his first album was certified platinum"?

Oh my god I am loving our new member's avi's--Slappy, Grey Area !!! lookin goooood! Also, I am infinitely more excited about the album now than when it was: "People seem to like WWFM and IIHY, so more of that, probably." And I feel very confident that ADAM IS TOO. So I utter a resounding finnish YAYYY!!! Also, Feb-March is no problemo for me (by the way, that's practically summer in Austin terms ) because I just know that'll give Adam time to work the hell outa that awesome, explosive, incendiary single, which, I feel confident, will represent the very best of what the album has to offer. And I'm so excited at the thought of that that I just can't bring myself to even think about February. There's a whole lotta SEXY NEXTY ADAM FABULOSITY between now and then. I think we're stuck thinking about "oh, god, four'na'half months in terms of the last four'na'half months. These four'na'half months will be endlessly glitterier. Chins up, lovely topians!!! The thought of Adam premiering his explosive single at some fantabulous Nov. event (X factor? AMAs ???!!?? kidding, ducks, or am I??) is enough even to help me over my enormous second hand embarrassment at his having to deal with the shipping situation via twitter. But then I think, maybe he got a good laugh outa it and SALL GOOD. And just think: he's in the studio RIGHT NOW cooking up even more goodies for us!!! again, YAY! And by the way, for those of you wondering, this was the "wooden ouruboros structure" that was Adam and Sauli's favorite at Burning Man, and guess what?! It was built by the Flipside folks, who are AUSTIN's Burner community!!! For some reason this makes me stupidly happy, because I know some folks involved in it, and I think AMW does, too. SO yay for Austin, too! ETA: btw, the ouruboros, or serpent eating its own tail, represents cyclical rebirth. Kinda appropriate inspiration for someone who's in the creative part of the album cycle, getting ready to release album number 2, dontcha think? :D

Thanks for busting my bubble :D Lol, j/k But then again it could, I mean I know absolutely nothing in marketing, but would they want FYE to be certified platinum for extra promoting power in the press and promo? Or does it not even matter?

I'm totally zen about the album release......all I want is the single. Once we've got Adam on the airwaves again we'll be so busy tracking adds and spins and whatnots....FUN, FUN!! ;D so many cute cat gifs! Haha! And he'll be on TV performing the single! Awesome day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For me, when Adam says he is happy with the results and ready for release, I'm on board! On TV again performing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just think of all the times I can hit the youTube replay button ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Loved the twitter party, better than cleaning house, which was what I was doing :( It's okay though, less dog hair and happy ending. Isn't that REALLY what being here and loving Adam is all about????? The HAPPY ending!!!! I know Adam will be making beautiful music way beyond my time, I am so thrilled to be here for the beginning. Such an awesome day! The only down side that I can see is that gelly & reihmer have more days to entertain me with their endless pics and .........reihmer........why is that boat/ship sailing in orange Fanta soda?????????? Lifeguard, hope you liked the video of the dogs being happy! Love to ALL of you! (Mika, xoxo, check email very soon!)

I understand the sentiment but this is such a difficult decision. On the one hand you would steal the songs and give Adam nothing of what he was owed from work he did (even though he doesn't support this album). On the other hand you wouldn't support and album he doesn't really want released. Kind of a moral grey area, no? (Not at all saying this in a blaming way - I just think it's a hard decision). It's not a hard decision for me! I'm going with what Adam wants. He isn't happy with the release of this music and he doesn't want to support something that is taking advantage of his name- for a few dollars. The man made plenty of money in the last couple of years. Adam doesn't have to sacrafice his good name and his dignity for some pocket change. If I want any of these songs, I will steal them. I won't have any problem with cheating the unethical scumbags that put this album out there. ;D ;D

Since it is the recording industry units that are tracked, all the RIAA cares about is the sales the label makes -- called shipments from the days when the only way to count was to track the shipments leaving and returned to the record label's warehouse. In the case of Britney's certification -- that was done by Jive and they had shipped well over 1 million units prior to RIAA certification. At the time, everyone expected the album would sell more that it sold. Circus (her previous album) sold 1.7 million. Oddly, she has another album, Blackout, that has sold over 1 million at retail but is not certified Platinum.
