My family thrives on heated discussions- we find it enjoyable when passions are ignited and opinions differ. Hell, we've been know to switch sides mid-discussion just to spice things up. At the end of the gathering someone will say "Well, that was fun" and we're all just our happy little family once again- no storming off or holding grudges. You'd be laughed out of the family if you took kerfluffles like these too seriously.
So I thought yesterday was sorta fun. Doesn't mean I don't take Adam's professional problems seriously, just that I know this too shall pass.

My friends are crazy and opinionated and most discussions are lively. I’m supposed to visit friends in Bowling Green, KY in the next few months, so if I do, we can get together and argue... By y’all. Off to the mountains !

Great essay, as usual, NoAngel! I would add to the cast of characters the one who sits in the corner and stays the hell out of it! This is me!!!! ;D ;D ;D Love your essay NoAngel. Yesterday was a day of nodding my head, shaking my head, ready to jump in, stepping away to take a break but in the end knowing that we'd be "back at the table in the morning."

Just want to make a note about Majors and Minors, the front page here is still listing Adam's day as Oct 28th, which of course AO says they have confirmed. However, M&M has just changed from Friday nights to Sunday nights so I don't think that will be the correct date anymore. Will it be Oct. 23rd or Oct. 30th. Or even later since M&M is going 2 weeks with no shows? :-/
Q3 comment: Thanks for the catch -- I will update.

We love discussions where all points of view are expressed. How boring and zzz-worthy the dinner table would be if all present marched in lockstep with every topic under discussion - Stepford wife style. I once read that if two people agree exactly on every subject, one of them is unnecessary. ;D I love the diversity of this board and that opinions are allowed to be expressed openly and most people do not yank their chair back and storm off. We may adjust our chair a bit and take another big gulp of tea but at the end of the dinner, we are still bonded together under one common cause. I see nothing threatening or harmful to Adam about deep and honest discussions taking place on Atop. I see deeper understanding of our fellow stans and our beautiful Adam. Adam is worthy of deep discussions AND shallow splashing. Can we not have both as Adam stans?

We are all so protective of Adam, but he is protective of us, too!

Yesterdays board made me really sad, I scrolled alot! Only because I love Adam soooo much and don't want him hurt in anyway, but I'm not his mommy and he's a big boy We really know nothing for sure, but do want to know everything. We just never will. Noangel, you made my day so far!!! :-*Now where are those pictures? ;D

NoAngel, that was a perfect analogy. It's important to remember that with most families, everyone has a place at the table. Online communities are sometimes difficult for me, in that I tend to rely most on the unspoken word--body language, facial expression, etc., rather than the words, particularly when a situation is emotional or heated. I always have an initial gut feeling when I read something, but the cues I rely most on are missing. I also like to take in as much information as I can and and think about it alone in a quiet place before reacting. By that time, the conversation has usually moved on or someone else already expressed that opinion. Now, flailing is another matter. I never ruin joy by over-processing! So, I'm at the table too, taking everything in, and processing all the opinions, but you may not notice me unless it's a full on flail day. I can't wait until we're flailing over the album cover and songs!!!

We are all so protective of Adam, but he is protective of us, too! Whoever did this video was standing right in there beside me. I was front row on Tommy's side. That big oaf walked by me and went over into the crowd and stepped on starlyyte's foot. She was wearing sandals and thought for a while that he had broken a bone in her foot. DC was a GREAT concert. The 9:30 Club is very small (the stage was small too) and everybody in there could see him really well. Moral of the story: wear combat boots to GA concerts ;D
