Holy fucking shit. I am on page 6. It's like deja vu. A time warp. Still the same old, same old. Did I stumble onto yesterday's thread?? LOL Dare I read on? Maybe later.

I just love it when Adam pimps his own work. I trust him so much that 97% of the time, if he doesn't say that much, it'll be good, and if he's really excited about it and enthusiastic, it'll be great! And I totally agree Susie and Budersh. I think that yeah what they have is great, they just want it to be mind blowing because they know that they can and that they are able. Makes me really excited too that he has radio stations tweeting, reporting on the updates. Shows that's there's anticipation. And I also hope that Adam does something similar as Katy Perry as done for the radio personalities. I hope also (getting ahead of myself here) that maybe they like have a small showcase to them too, not just play the cd, but a private Adam concert or something, I mean they'll have to be over the moon after having a private session with Adam singing right?

GAH!!! All these pics!! He looks incredible. I do have a soft spot for those PFLAG ones. So natural and just absolutely gorgeous. Here's something that was discussed on Twitter that may answer the question about "Why hasn't a single been chosen?" Katy's peeps did a huge schmooze effort for the PDs and invited them to these awesome parties to give them an exclusive listen to the music AND (I've heard some rumors) that they were able to give feedback on what they thought should be the lead single(s). IMO, this results in a sense of "ownership" for said PDs (not in a bad way, but that they feel part of the process). I think it's a genius move and maybe this is why Adam said the single isn't selected yet. katy-perry-fans.popsugar.com/Katy-Perrys-Teenage-Dream-10216740About 100 select members of the music industry — mostly radio programmers, but also Perry’s Capitol Records team and the Norwegian production duo, Stargate — have surrendered their cell phones for the price of hearing nine tracks from the singer’s new album, “Teenage Dream.” Most people are huddled by the open bar, and absolutely no one is going near the sand — except, that is, for Perry, who after setting up each track, traipses back and forth through the pit to greet those in attendance. For this simulated boardwalk bash, Perry’s look of choice is a leopard-print Dolce & Gabbana dress, artfully applied makeup and daring peep-toes. “I don’t like sand in my stilettos,” she pouts, referencing a lyric from her instant summer anthem, “California Gurls.” She teeters back to her stool. “Whoever wrote that line deserves to be fired!” Perry repeated this scene three more times that month, visiting Chicago, Atlanta and her home base of Los Angeles. Her mission: to shore up support for “Teenage Dream” before its August 24 release, by wooing radio program directors with free cocktails, corn dogs, cotton candy and a first listen to several potential singles. “We wanted to share the music with people who had been instrumental in supporting her career,” says Greg Thompson, executive vice president of promotion at Capitol. Thompson served as Perry’s co-host, shrugging and laughing when she introduced the title track by saying in her girliest voice, “I really wanted to call this album ‘Teenage Wet Dream.’”
(There is more in the article before and after.) Wow that is so cool. I've wondered why something along this scale hadn't been done before...I guess it was. P.S. It seems so Adam....wonder if it tipped him in favor of her management team !!

It seems so Adam....wonder if it tipped him in favor of her management team !! U2 did this type of thing world wide in 2009 just before releasing their last album. Problem was with every group that reported in there was no real consensus on what songs were hits and what weren't. Then when the album reviews started coming out you had the same situation most of the reviews were positive but just about everyone chose different songs as the best tracks. Sometimes your fan base is too diverse. LOL ETA: By the way, maybe we need to get Adam some pants like Cook was wearing at his concert last night. Major wardrobe malfunction. MJ's has a post about it if anyone wants to go look.

I will forever curse the excellent workmanship on Adam's GNT outfits!!! Things looked so promising with the sleeve failure that first night.... >:(

I'm sure that's very true. The bottom line is, they probably aren't REALLY leaving it up to a pure democratic process, they just want the feedback about what is coming across and what isn't. TPTB are still going to make an executive decision based on a ton of factors.
These kinds of things are more about schmoozing the gatekeepers in a way that's still legal (as has been discussed, this greasing-of-palms used to be a widely held practice, but is pretty much illegal now, I think). Introduction or launch parties, however, are not.
When I was in college, I used to do a lot of screenings for unfinished films in L.A. The studios bring your in to watch a film that is about 85-90 percent complete, and then you give feedback on it. There were a few I saw that became blockbusters and to this day, I take a little bit of pride in that fact – like I had something to do with it. Of course, I was just lucky to get ones they knew were going to be major and they were starting the Word of Mouth early.
Point was, they were doing these types of screenings for films they were quite sure were destined to be hits. The process (as it is expensive) isn't nearly as common with dogs, IMO.
Two years ago I went to a pre-screening of ABC's new fall season (was 2009) and same thing – we watched the pilots and rated them. One of the shows I saw was "Modern Family" and I spotted right away that it had hit potential. I do find it gratifying that I identified it on the spot and it has become a blockbuster and has won an Emmy for Best Comedy two years in a row.
I think the psychology behind a lot of these "sneak previews" (like film festivals, etc.) is that those who are the early discoverers talk it up and in essence, become part of the team.
To have Adam perform live is a fantastic idea, I think.
