I think Adam has made his feelings on this matter quite clear: Its NOT what I'm currently working on, nor does it reflect my artistic vision. Some folks will do anything to make a buck. Fuck. But truthfully, it doesn't matter if he changes his mind or not or if Monte wants us to buy it or if his father or brother or my dead grandfather uses a Oujia board to tell us he wants us to buy it. I'll make up my own mind. And my mind is telling me that I don't want to give any money to a sleazebag like Welsford because it just encourages this behavior. And to be honest, I cannot see why anyone would want to encourage this behavior. I think this above all is what bothers me. The opportunistic way BFM is being marketed just seems WRONG. Welsford's whole approach IS sleazy. Anything for a buck, indeed. So true! If it had been released last fall or winter, there is a 75% chance I would have bought it. But I can not get the unethical way they are using Adam's name and using Adam's promo from the real album. Just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should do it.

[/li][li] The “Beg For Mercy” album contains songs that Adam and I wrote and recorded prior to him entering the “American Idol” competition. It was a collaboration between the two of us. Brian Frasier – Moore played drums; Rickey Pageot & Eric Mayron played keyboards on these recordings. I do not have any control of the release of any of these recordings, and I haven’t had any involvement with these songs since we recorded them. In fact, they have been out of my hands since before Adam completed Season 8 of “American Idol.”[/li][li] Because we signed all of the associated legal paperwork, they are technically allowed to release it. Additionally, I have had and continue to have no control over the timing of these releases; I couldn’t halt or accelerate them even if I wanted to. All performers make money on all recordings that were played and/or written on. [/li][li] From a purely artistic standpoint, I must admit that I am proud of this music... I still think they’re great songs years later. [/li][li] I can’t deny that “Beg For Mercy” is something we both put our heart and soul into at the time. However, I’m focused on my new album, “Pain, Love & Destiny”, which was released last week, and Adam is hard at work recording his new album. [/li][li] With that said, my honest thoughts are that if you like what you hear, you should buy it and support everyone involved with this album. And if you don’t like it, then you shouldn’t buy it. As fans, that is your prerogative. However, illegal downloading of any music is wrong any way you look at it. But I urge you to please not fling any unnecessary negative criticism or anger at any musicians involved with this project. At the end of the day, it’s just music. And music is the reason we’re all here, right? Thank you for your support and for allowing me to address these rumors. Listen for yourself to the songs and you be the judge. Love, Monte Pittman [/quote] Monte has stated his facts about these bastard songs and how he has no control over them or their release date. He thinks they are good and for us to decided for ourselves if we want to buy them. I am disappointed that Monte didn't address the timing of this bastard album's release and this slug guy quoting Adam's tweets for his NEW album and connecting then to his bastard album. Monte said he is proud of the songs and wants us to listen to them and decide if we'll buy the album and support the artist involved. Monte chose not to address how all this affects Adam and his new music. I have to say I'm disappointed. JMHO

I'm still leaning towards thievery. ITA - regardless of the legality of ownership of tracks or whatever, Welsfuck is STEALING Adam's fame, following and name and RCA promo. Notwithstanding the weasle-worded disclaimers now added to Adam's tweets, how can he really be allowed to launch all this on a website with the address theadamlambertalbum.com . To me the final question that there appears to be no ethical answer to is "Why now" . I will continue to seethe inwardly .

I don't get it: if it's so simple, if this Melcolm Whatshisface has legal rights to release CV songs whenever he chooses, how was it stopped last time? He was planning on releasing them along with Take 1, wasn't he?

I think everyone can agree that the labeling and timing is slimy.
Actually, Q3, here's a legal question.
How can Malcolm Welsford LEGALLY label Beg for Mercy an "Adam Lambert" album and NOT "Citizen Vein" or, at least "Adam Lambert/Monte Pittman??". If Monte has half credit, how can he be legally erased from the cover??
Over half of the sleeze factor of this release is the name on the cover.

: ;D ;D Why on earth would Ebert spin this? And for the record, I won't buy this album. It's going to be around, probably languishing in neglect (we hope). I'm sure it won't hurt Adam in any way. But while I can accept what Monte has to say, I take my cue on this from Adam. He is my guy and I won't reward Welsford. But I do want to hear the finished tracks, to satisfy my curiosity. They'll be all over the Internet so that'll be easy. That is my personal decision and I see absolutely no wrong if anyone else decides otherwise. We're all adults, I respect your views.
