It took me a while too to figure out why I don't like it, but I'm sitting here waiting interminably for a report to show up and can't do anything until it does, so I had the time. LOL 1. I don't care for shaved head sections on anyone, but... I especially don't like it when there is a high contrast between the skin color and the hair color. So a shaved section of skull on a blonde with pale skin or someone with dark hair and dark skin doesn't bother me (don't like it, but don't really care). But dark hair and pale skin... Ugh. It reminds me of someone who's recovering from brain surgery. 2. The whole look is way too much DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince for me. It's a BTDT look, so I'm bored. But even they did not button the shirt all the way up and/or add a vest. "] So for me the problem is that the pattern is very strong without an offsetting visual "rest" for the eyes. Exposed skin provides that visual "rest" and keeps the pattern from being over-powering. The vest is not working to provide the "rest" the eyes need to deal with the pattern. Between the patterns/colors on the shirt, plus the vest, plus the shaved hair, I'm not seeing Adam. I'm seeing his fashion choices. Wow, that's an interesting analysis, carrieb. I can totally see that. You're right. I think when I first saw the pic my eyes were all over the place (and not in a good way ) I didn't see that shirt and vest and hairstyle as complementing him, I saw them as jumping out for the sake of themselves. It's hard to overpower Adam's magnetism, that's why he CAN get away with wearing so many accessories, but this just didn't work for me (for you). The shirt is beautiful, but pretty loud, so you really need to downplay it, not put a vest over it. I really thought he was in a '70s theme costume at first. You're also right about the hair. The "step" was the big trend for kids in the '90s, when my very blond nephews were young. Seemed like every one of their blond classmates had the "step" (shaved sides around the bottom). My b-i-l was always steadfast that his kids would never have a "gimmick hairdo." LOL. When it was the rage in the '90s, I didn't care for it on anyone, but I have to admit, when Adam had the trimmed (not shaved) sides with the cut lines, he looked REALLY cute with them. I think you're right, because they weren't fully shaved, the look wasn't so stark. This angular, shaved thing does look very Vanilla Ice to me. :-/ It does make my head spin wondering what the cover art is going to look like. I got rather attached to those Lee Cherry Studiobert pics and thought he could not look more gorgeous. And now this is something entirely new. We will have to see ... I think you guys need to think Shaman on a spaceship. This is a rather sci-fi look.

Sauli says he is eagerly waiting for spending the Christmas in LA. Then he talks about how cold the Christmas weather is in Finland (and kinda feels sorry for the Finns who has to spend the Christmas in Finland). That's how I understand it.

Thinking about Sauli's new blog. Sauli has more friends coming over from Finland. Good for him, he obviously misses his friends, misses being able to speak Finnish and being able to share his experiences being in Hollywood and being in the US.
It's a funny thing being a Finn. When you are abroad you start to miss Finland and Finnish language pretty soon. At least it's what happened to me several times I've been abroad. Finnish culture is something that sometimes is hard to understand for non-finns. We are kind of crazy in a way (generalizations here). But I suppose it's the same for Greeks, Italians and so forth. You miss your own kind of people to be able to share your experiences with .... What I'm trying to say here is that even though everything is fine and you are having a wonderful time, you still miss something from your home country.

Yes, and I've said that all along from the first time we saw the haircut, but now my resolve is waning. I still think it will be hard to pull off even if they are doing a sci-fi look. His first album was blue, shaved-sides, sci-fi (Michelin Man) and I really thought he was going to make a stark departure. But that doesn't look like it's happening. At this point, it looks like he's lined up to do "FYE – The Sequel." (And BTW, I never minded the FYE cover.)
I'm sure it will be interesting, but I just can't visualize it at this point and no matter what, I will always think he looks better without shaved sides than with.

ITA tantun Basically it's the difference in culture. We laugh with different things, we dance with our own songs other than US/UK pop-rock, each country has different idioms in their language, you want to speak your own language etc.... We Greeks are also very crazy you know.

Actually, I think it makes sense when you picture the hair with the clothes from that designer who tweeted about working with Adam recently. Gah, I can't remember the name... Anyway, the clothes were very futuristic and would go with this haircut perfectly. Back forever ago, Adam said "more leather, less glitter," and I think that's all he said about a ~look. The rest of his statements have been about the music-- "real, honest, etc." I think many of us thought this might mean a less stylized, more gritty look, but it doesn't look that way. I have a feeling this album cover is going to surprise us all. Bring on AlbumCoverGate 2.0!!!!!! ;D

It's kind of like how a newlywed is more comfortable when they hang out with thier family as compared to the spouse's family. 8-) I agree, I'm really happy Sauli has found Finns here and has had company from Finland. #letskeepSaulihappy ETA: Whoa!!! I honestly wasn't thinking of them as newlyweds, I was totes thinking of my personal experience. I swear.
