Finally, a topic I know enough about to be able to chime in. I come from a family of keyboardists. I started playing myself about age five. Cam has never impressed me. Her solos during IIHY were unimaginative and just chords broken into a series of individual notes. I thought that the few times I heard Zac he was much more creative and had a better "feel" for the song. But, if not Zac, then someone else. He can find much better keyboardists.
For the guitar, I don't know what qualifies as a great rock lead player, but, Monte seemed to equate "lots of notes" with being a great solo. "Look, my fingers move fast as lightning." Problem was with the way the show was amplified, I couldn't hear the individual notes. They were all muddied together into a sludge.
Tommy, what can I say? He is cute. I grew up a fan of Paul McCartney. HE was a bassist. Tommy is .... not. Not to go into music theory here, but, he is doing very basic things with the base line, musically. When they did ACIGC, Tommy's unfamiliarity with the song showed in his bass playing. I can excuse that, except that when he hit bad notes, at least several times he did not correct them. If nothing else, he should have been able to take his cues from the chords Monte was playing. If Monte plays an E chord, the basic bass note is an E. It's not that hard. Don't know how Tommy is with guitar. That is the instrument he has played for longer. I just don't see Tommy as a very deeply grounded musician. But, he is cute.
People want Adam to have live back up singers. That would be fine, but, there are also lots of backing instruments on most of his songs in the tour. On GNT, WWFM, Aftermath, and the encores were the only songs that did not use backing instrumental fillers, if I recall correctly. So, unless you are gonna add more live instruments, Adam is still going to have limited ability to change up tempos or arrangements live.
But, whatever configuration Adam has on his promo and next tour, I am confident I will love it.

Well... Justin is 1) getting older and 2) dating. Perhaps the more rabid of his fanbase has started looking elsewhere? The Jonas brothers (who I actually think are decently talented considering they were aimed at the tween set) fell really fast once they hit a certain point. Jonas Brothers did fall off the radar pretty quick. Biebs teen stardom coming to an end as well? I wish him luck considering teen stars usually fizzle into oblivion after their 2 yearish cycles and rarely do they make it past the heartthrob stage. Up to the bat then is Cody Simpson/Greyson Chance for pop and Scotty/Hunter Hayes for country.

If it is released in March, Adam has until early/mid-February to complete the album. That is 4 more months! ETA: myspenser50 I had the exact same thought but it looks like this is a backup singer audition tape. Yes, and that's fine. HE did previously say that he wouldn't release a single until the album is done, but looks like that has changed. As long as we've come to terms with what he said at the time isn't the reality that is now, cool. The only thing that worries me a tad is that they were so sure they had such a great product, so at the most they would be what? Looking for maybe another song or two to give it some added punch? The late-break singles with Pharrell and Rico ... great! But if they're looking to replace more than that, I don't get it. What were all these rumors from everyone who has heard it about how fabulous it was and now – what? We're looking to replace 30 percent of that? I don't get it. Adam, with all due respect, please release the single and start spilling yer guts in interviews about the bastard album and the trajectory of this album ... you're going to give me an ulcer, I swear. We have no real idea what is going on behind the scenes -- just the bits being revealed on Twitter and in a rare interview. Quite often the label execs review what their artist submits and recommend something new -- to make the album more commercially viable. I think RCA A&R could have been responsible for the late addition of Pharrell and Rico which are both potential singles and/or high selling tracks. But most of the collaborators on this album have been involved for months. I can't see any reason to worry --- although I would love to wake up tomorrow and have a new Adam single!!! Of course we have to wait until November. RCA only needs 2 weeks to get the single out to radio and all the digital retailers. So everything seems to be on track for a single release in early November -- my guess is 11/8/11.

Reihmer: I'm so sorry if you've already talked about this a ton, but may I ask where you live and how you discovered Adam? I LOVE your pic spam! Again, apologies to everyone for asking something that everyone probably knows.

Totally agree, NoAngel!! She's an amazing guitarist. I wonder if she'd be interested in something like that. Sadly, it doesn't seem like her solo career is going anywhere. I heard her single a couple of times on the radio last spring, but nothing since. No idea what she's up to, or if she'd think going from MJ to Adam would be a palatable career move, but her talent is extraordinary. Just visually, I think it would be so hot for Adam to have a female guitarist. She' a great guitarist but having her as Adam's would put too muh of the spotlight on her. She does have a fan following and I think is bigger outside the US. I thought of a female guitarist too. How about Liz Ann? She's very good. NVM, she plays bass. I agree that Zac is a musical genius, but I love Cam too. Cam has the added advantage of being a very good singer, so there's one back up singer right there. ETA: Camila went to Berklee School of Music. So I think she's got the expertise needed. Remember, she also plays guitar. So she is versatile.

Heh heh heh A few weeks back, before all the present drama, crazyforadam had asked about what made a BAND bigger than the sum of its parts. I had written out a huge e-mail about all the aspects about what made a band more than its lead singer....and then my Internet crashed. However, I had a partial copy that I kept, and this is as good a time as any to bring it back: **** [What makes a great band a great band??] REM is a fantasitc band. But what made it great wasn't just Michael Stipes. Metallica is more than James Hetfield. And no matter how great he was, Queen wasn't just Freddie Mercury. A great band is more than the sum of its parts. And a fantastic lead singer is vital, but it *ISN'T* everything. Honestly, if I were to create the "Lambert Fantasy Band", I'm not entirely sure who would be in it. Except Zac. Zac is the one person I've seen with Adam who has the creativity and the balls-to-the wall skills and desire to think outside the box to be a critical member of my fantasy band. And no much how much I may like Cam, she (IMO) has neither those skills or musical imagination. Monte is a very good guitarist. Solid. Skilled. Not IMO an imaginative touchstone. Eddie Van Halen would literally make a guitar SING. Eric Johnson playing "Cliffs of Dover" was like listening to an opera. Justin Hawkins playing anything causes me wriggles of happiness. Bless his soul, Monte is a lovely man, but to me his guitar playing is more competent than transfixing. Tommy....I have no idea. His skills are competent, but he brings spark. That spark may be more important. Is it enough? I don't know more bassists to compare him to. Drummers.... IMO Longineu didn't fit. I felt he wanted to be Alpha, and it killed him that he wasn't. I like Isaac's drumming. But for my Fantasy Band I really want someone more like Cowboy Mouth's Fred LeBlanc. [laughs] So for my Fantasy band I want Adam as frontman, Justin Hawkins on lead guitar, Zac Baird on keys, Fred LeBlanc on drums, and ...who knows?...maybe keep Tommy on base! ;D

I hope Adam puts together a new band for his next tour. Assuming he has a couple of big hits and his album sells well, he should be able to afford a better and larger band, back-up singers and more dancers. My bet is that he has not even thought about the tour much yet.
Cassie, your comments about Tommy are so right. Adam really needs a much stronger bassist. I can't imagine him getting rid of Tommy but would love to see him move Tommy to rhythm guitar.
In any case, I would love to see Adam with a larger touring band, richer and more varied instrumentation, more dancers and three back up singers. Let's hope for huge sales so this can happen.

Ok - if Tommy moves to rhythm guitar, we need nominations for a bass player!! Who's got ideas?? ;D ETA: Rule #1 - Must be a living person, and in good enough health to tour! ETAETA: Rule #2 - Must be able to explain WHY, ideally backed up by a YouTube!

I promised to bring over any news from ALF so here is the latest, posted by the moderator Becky. Sorry if it's already been posted: I can't bear to go back through yesterday's thread. I found this interesting. I think it was bad timing that the ALF renewals were September 1st. Adam's management would want all the webpages to have the same theme as the new single. Adam only had His photoshoot recently. I wonder if the single is coming soon and they are going to start getting the websites ready with the new artwork.

The pause in ALF activity is very odd to me and very poorly timed.
The strangest part to me is that they are so public about not knowing what is going on. I think that they should at least act like they have some contact with Adam and know what he wants.
I still have not renewed my ALF membership although I will do it at some point. Not sure why I am a member. Unless I can get advanced access to concert tickets like most fan clubs, fan club membership seems somewhat useless.
