We're getting so many goodies today, not sure if I can take too much more I can take it, you betcha!! lmao! I said TOO much more. But they have to space it out just a tad, too much berting.... going to end up dying of happiness or something

I think you cut the high end a little short ... try 20s to 70s ... [laugh] I know, but for those of us who have decades to go before retirement, this blanket "ATOP old age home" meme that's been going on lately comes off as, well, weird. [wryly] And - frankly - with the way Social Security is going, most of us are gonna drop dead before we're allowed to stop working anyway! : I agree, ATOP has never felt "old" to me (I was only joking about the references that have been made lately --it is where I go to "play." We are a diverse, intelligent, and funloving group! Love it here!

aspenI love your post. So true. I often wonder though about all these people that discovered Adam after AI, just watching a video clip and got into the rabbit hole along with the rest of us. I'm always interested to listen to their stories. What was it that made them search further about him? Usually (I must say ALWAYS) when I listen to a new artist and I love him, I just listen to the song, maybe buy his album etc. But I don't try to do a whole research about him. It's truly fascinating. Something magical happens when you listen to his voice, your feelings explode, just like us when we listened to "mama" that's the only thing I can say. This is a good topic. I don't watch Idol. I don't like the show. At all. I had heard of Adam while Season 8 was going on -- that there was this flamboyant gay kid who sang so well and kept advancing. To the extent I thought about it at all, I hoped he would win just as a thumb in the eye of "the man." Later that summer, I saw a copy of Rolling Stone at the newsstand. I didn't buy it, but I noticed Adam's picture, with the snake. I thought "Ay, chihuahua!? THAT'S Adam Lambert? I thought he was some gay teeny-bopper? That's some man -- he looks like Elvis!" Next time that Adam came into my consciousness was when I looked at the newspaper and saw that he had blown up the AMA's. I laughed my butt off. It had been so long since anything "rock and roll" had happened -- anything that wasn't canned and test-marketed. And for someone off of Idol, which is so manufactured, to blow the lid off the place was fantastic. I went and watched the performance and thought Oh My Freaking God. Well ... that's different. I watched it probably 20 times that day. Then I went back and watched the Idol stuff. I watched him on the CBS Morning Show. But the real turning point was when I rolled out of bed on January 1, 2010, and made it a point to find and watch the videos from Gridlock. Totally hooked on a daily basis ever since. What made me search? I think the reasons for each person are as personal as they are. Never having seen Adam on “Idol,” I wasn’t expecting the bad boy in a sweet disguise that many of you had come to know. The man I saw was the devil himself. I soon learned that Adam specialized in playing – that is, in assuming multiple and masquerading identities. I think he attracts fans who long to play (and repels those who feel threatened by the notion). My mom had died in February 2009 after a years-long horrible illness, and you have no idea how much I wanted to empty myself of my everyday, beaten-down persona and play again! I’m Nobody! Who are you? Are you – Nobody – too? Then there’s a pair of us? Don’t tell! -- Emily DickinsonP.S. I hope that Adam will be getting a bunch of new fans soon. Having been a fan for 2 years now, but not having been a fan since "Mama," I dunno about the word "newbie." ??? I hope we will be welcoming and realize that Adam is for everyone, and new fans with new ideas are just as legit. Without the "newbies," even though I was there from the beginning, Adam would never be where he is today. Some of the diehards from Idol days deserted after the AMAs because they were shocked and disappointed, and I say, "Good riddance," because those who remained and those who jumped in a little later, understood that it is Adam's vision, not ours, so encourage him to be brave, crazy, and fly his freak flag, or not, when he chooses. I don't think any of us count more than any other...... except I do have to put Gelly. Q3, NoAngel, Reimher (sp?), Susiefierce (because she always has something interesting to say,) and a few others in a special category because they keep us in full onward and upward mode even on the most boring day. But when it comes right down to it, I think we're all exceptionally smart and insightful for spending every free moment working one another into a frenzy about AFL.
