Hello, delurking for one post: Finally, visually, I may not love every pants that Adam ever wears, but I LOOOVE to be fan of somebody who quite frankly does not give a damn what Joan Rivers thinks. If he'd cared, I would be fan of an Armani suit wearing look-alike hiding in the sea of penguins. That to me is the whole appeal of the visual impression Adam leaves me with. He uses the influences he sees around him and then does his own thing ignoring the judges and media-gossip and their own limitations along the way. Joan cannot get to him and she knows it. Half of Hollywood is afraid of her BUT ADAM IS NOT.If he wants to wear a poncho, because the event he is at is not about his own androgyny but rather about the drag queens around him he totally can hide under a poncho. And in my mind, that is a sign of putting intention and personal character before a fashion statement...and for that alone, I love the poncho. And I don't care about the hair, quite frankly. It changes daily and I don't even get to Adamtopia daily right now. I have no idea how he keeps up with himself, he is the one who has to maintain it and not only look at it. Holy, crap, that is one EPIC post. I love it all, especially the part above. You are so right on the money. Thank you. |

ETA: Um, his hair is seriously ridiculous. GAWD!! Long, short, up, down, shaved sides or whatever, that is one gorgeous, lustrous head of hair right there. So shiny and lush in that pic. No fair that some hairstylist gets to run her fingers through it just like it's NO FAIR that eleventy billion other peeps get to hear his music before we ever do. :-/ Fuck our actual lives.  |

I defended Monte quite a bit here, not so much his actions, which we did not know anyways, but more, I felt we had no right to interfere and use our fan position to defame character. I think that the fact that Adam gives us all such insight and access to the world that surrounds him is a trust too and that it is our job as fans to respect the boundaries and stay out of his business and especially not make things harder on Adam with our interferences. I still think that way. I realize that much is said because people want to defend Adam, but Adam does not need that defense and instead this crap hurts him, and he has said so. He is unhappy when we are negatively affected by what goes on in his life. I haven't seen a crusade to defame Monte's character from the members of this board. People have just simply posted their feelings and opinions on this matter on a fanboard. I doubt very seriously that our little postings are hurting Adam in any way! We have no idea what, if anything, Adam is unhappy about concerning how fans have reacted to the BFM mess. He has stayed pretty silent about it. In fact, Adam hasn't tweeted support for Monte, but instead has remained silent until he made a public statement today by unfollowing Monte. Comments on a fan board haven't hurt Adam. Betrayal from an old and trusted friend is more likely to be what has personally hurt him. LOL!!  Celebrities aren't afraid of Joan Rivers! Her show is just for fun. At one time or another, almost every celebrity has been a target on her show for the worst dressed category. It's a silly fashion entertainment show that isn't meant to be taken seriously. It's fashion- it's a hit or miss world and they rarely agree on what is a hit or what is a miss! (we don't even agree here on ATOP) The poncho? IMO, it is just downright fugly. I don't care what great meaning is or isn't behind this particular article of clothing, the poncho isn't the best look on him. Whatever, Adam will wear what he wants to and I don't ever get to worked up about it. The hair? It is...not his best look. In a couple of weeks, he will move on to some other hairstyle. |
