I know A LOT of fans in this fandom of all personality types, and I don't think I know ONE who wants new music purely for their "own stimulation." In part (as a supposedly "creative" person who spends an awful lot of time faffing about and not creating anything : I disagree that it doesn't take time to make a great product. Certainly you're right that amazing things can be created in a few moments of brilliance, and I am a FIRM believer in the inspirational power of deadlines, but sometimes a lot of empty stewing happens before the actual creative moments, and I do think a product that is revisited over time and edited and thought over and revisited and edited again tends to be very clearly better. Adam may be writing and recording these songs in a few days, but by his own description he's taking the time to return to them later, rerecord a vocal, change up the beat, and reconsider. And on a larger scale the same thing has clearly happened with the album as a whole. And I for one am thrilled that it has. FYE was great fun, but I am expecting this album to be much much better than FYE, and I think that is an expectation I can take straight to the bank, precisely because of the time and care and obvious thoughtfulness Adam is putting into it. . I agree with this completely. There is a very interesting article in the new Vanity Fair about publishing (specifically about The Art of Fielding, which is a terrific book), and a friend of the writer talks about the process of creating something over a period of time. He says that if you go back to see what you wrote a year a go, you're probably going to want to rewrite it because you're an entirely different person by then. And since Nile Rogers was added to this mix just a few weeks ago, I'm sure that caused some major change in attitude about some of the music.
