Not a doubt in my mind that Adam will get the cover of RollingStone. None. Nada. I subscribed. I think the RS cover, that he used as his Avi, is a good clue that he will get another RS cover. I hope the shoot was when he still had all his hair!!! ;D ;D

OT, regarding the EMA's. Question for Cassie. I'm listening to Adam's EMA's performance, yet again. I was over on the DDD forum and someone was saying that the songs that they picked for Adam were too easy, that he can easily hit the D5's in the songs, that they should have picked harder songs for him. And I was just curious at what note Adam bottoms and top out at for each of the songs, meaning what was the range for each of the songs. Silly boys. So much emphasis on range. As if it were the end-all-be-all that makes a great singer or a great performance. TSMGO bottoms out at B3 and tops at D5, tho Adam adds an E5 in riffs. WWRY goes down to an E3 and up to only an A4 (tho' Adam's shouts to "Come on!" actually hit D5 and E5). WATC goes to a G3 at the low end, and up to a C5 in the melody. However, Adam riffs up to an F5 at the very end. So, in the entire medley, Adam sings a range of just over two octaves. The impressiveness of the performance is more than notes. It is the power with which they are sung. Anything above about G4 is tough for most males to hit in full voice. If they hit higher notes they are either in falsetto or sound very pushed and strained. Not Adam, tho. Much of the songs lie above the G4 and Adam sings them in full voice, attacking the notes with great strength and clarity of tone, but without strain. The way he articulates his words so clearly and crisply, with a punch, gives the songs the belligerent, aggressive power we associate with those rock anthems. I don't think that Queen or Adam were picking songs based on range. Or based on what vocal would most wow the guys at DDD. I was under the impression that TSMGO was a direct tribute to Freddy and his struggles with his illness. The last two were probably the most familiar stomp/kick ass anthems Queen did. We hear them all the time at various sporting events. They are Queen signature pieces and the best for rousing the audience in a finale. Silly boys at DDD. I actually shook my head and laughed when I read the comment. As if Brian and Roger were sitting around deciding which song showed the most range instead of which songs would bring the most enthusiastic response from the audience, and SHOW MUST GO ON which was chosen to honor Freddie's memory.

My best friend is having a baby and I am watching her 4 year old. I got through it by having my DVR edition of Adam's performance with Queen on constant rotation for 2 hours. If she can watch the same Sponge Bob 47 times, I can do the same with Adam. Do you have any idea how mind numbing Shoots and Ladders and Candyland are? Trust me, you don't want to experience it. OMG, poor mischa!!!

Ah. "Musical ecstasy." It's so exciting to read all this enthusiasm and praise from the people who've heard Adam's new music in London. And I can't stop watching the Queen medley! LindaG23, I really liked your post about Adam deliberately determining the direction of his music and finding a way to produce modern, relevant dance/funk tracks that showcase his voice. It was thrilling to read in the Out article how he actively considered this. January is a great time for a fresh start. It will be heaven when the promo begins to get some insight in interviews on his thought process, the scoop about the Queen tribute, and details about the sessions with other artists, etc. Midwifespal, I enjoyed reading your perspective on the creative process. I, too, love that Adam's having the chance to revisit and organically mold this album. In this case, I think it will work out for the better for us as listeners. I know there's a danger in taking an open-ended amount of time to "perfect" a creation, but Adam is very self-aware and seems to know his own issues with perfectionism. And since six tracks are complete, and it sounds like most of the others are close to done at this point, it appears they're pretty far along creatively for a March CD, even with the change in direction. Carrieb, your thoughts on what it means to be a pop star were very interesting. I think Adam can position himself as both an "of the moment" pop star and enduring artist with this new album. Other performers that he's admired like Madonna and Michael Jackson have done it. And, of course, Elvis. Makes me think of Adam's Warhol-inspired/Elvis Out 100 photo and brings to mind Warhol's "fifteen minutes of fame" proclamation, but also the fact that much of Warhol's "disposable" pop art has stood the test of time. It would be great if Adam could keep up the momentum from the repeat airings of the Queen performance and provide content of interest for new fans peeking in and taking a look at him for the first time (as well as for current casual/returning fans) between now and when the single drops and promo starts in earnest. As far as we know, there's nothing after the Majors and Minors broadcast this weekend. It's only a pipe dream, but maybe he could video record himself singing an acoustic version of one of the bonus tracks from the deluxe album and post it on his YouTube/Facebook/Twitter accounts one week. Or do a video chat with fans another week. And post a couple of one-minute snippets from the behind-the-scenes video I'm sure they must be working on. I doubt he'd be doing any one-off concerts, but I got a talent announcement e-mail the other week from the Trevor Project about Trevor Live, and that sounds like a cool event to participate in. It'd be the perfect place to perform "Outlaws of Love" again, and maybe another new track? Knowing my countrymen as I do I was quite sure this would happen - combine such a visible embrace by the iconic and beloved Brian May/Roger Taylor with a truly incredible and respectful performance to a cultural hero in front of the country's music elite .....and the entire narrative around Adam in the UK has changed for good. Era 2 will be "Freddie Jr" versus the "Lord Gaga" tag he was burdened with last go around....and add to that the fact that he didn't even win. Seriously couldn't be better.

If you go to sub.rollingstone.com/allaccess/subscribe you can subscribe to the next 4 issues of Rolling Stone for 99¢ and you get online access to their archives ... including Adam's June 25, 2009 issue ... Thanks!! Done! OK I know this thread is dead but maybe there are others out there that are behind like I am...so my question is: why is Alabama not listed on the drop down list to order the magazine? Hmmm! I even went to the official RS site and AL is left off of that list too so can't complete the order.
