Adam Deep Cut Appreciation Poll
Ok, we have results. I am going to space the various vote counting methods out just a little bit or there would be just too much data all at once, starting with conventional vote counting.
CONVENTIONAL VOTE COUNTING
This method only considers first choices and is the predominant voting method in the US.
Can't Let You Go - 13 WINNER!!! Pick U Up - 11 Nirvana - 8 Take Back - 4 Master Plan - 2
1 vote each for Heavy Fire, Map, Things I Didn't Say, By The Rules, and Shame. 0 votes for Two Fux and Can't Go Home.
Comments and Insights: 1. This is pretty straightforward. 2. Two Fux and Can't Go Home received no first place votes and dropped out immediately in all the voting methods.
Note to Adam: Skip these two songs

Adam Deep Cut Appreciation Poll
Ok, we have results. I am going to space the various vote counting methods out just a little bit or there would be just too much data all at once and today we have:
RANKED CHOICE VOTE - SINGLE WINNER
This method for a single winner allocates a voter's vote to their second/third/etc choices when the voters choice is eliminated in one of the rounds. The "instant run-off" rounds continue until one song has a majority of votes which in our case should be 22 votes out of 43 total.
Just as a reminder from yesterday of the first place vote count: So obviously the first round eliminated the songs with only 1 first place vote and for those folks, their vote was transferred to their second choice. This went on for five rounds before a final winner was determined to have over 50 percent of the vote, 20 vs 19.
And the RCV winner is .... Pick U Up with 20 votes
Comments and Insights:
1. But ... but ... but, wait you say, 20+19 is only 39 votes. I thought there were 43 total ballots. That is absolutely true however, four of the ballots did not include either of the final two songs so those votes were completely eliminated in the final round. The take away here is that in RCV every candidate needs to be ranked to make sure your vote counts!
2. Pick U Up won despite CLYG having more first place votes initially because more people thought Adam would likely choose PUU over CLYG.
3. Again, Two Fux and Can't Go Home received no first place votes and dropped out immediately.

Adam Deep Cut Appreciation Poll
Ok, we have the final set of results. RANKED CHOICE VOTE - MULTIPLE WINNERSThe method for multiple winners is by far the most complicated and also the least common, only used say for example when you have multiple open at-large seats in a city council election. There is no ranking because votes are equally capped for each place depending on how many places are filled. In our case that's three and so when a song reaches 25% of total votes, the re-allocation of votes begin. When three songs reach 25% there is no other combination of lower choice songs that can displace the top three and the counting stops. I am not going to get into detail but suffice it to say that excess votes at the top go all the way down ballot in fractions and eliminated votes at the bottom go up ballot as whole votes. Shit can get fractionally fractious real fast Just as a reminder of the original vote count: And the RCV multiple winners are .... Pick U Up Can't Let You Go Nirvana Comments and Insights:1. Nirvana won by only 1.63 votes over Take Back despite TB having only 4 first place votes to Nirvana's 8. 2. Only two ballots were completely eliminated because they didn't have any of the top three songs compared to four in the Single Winner RCV. In both cases, the ballot had Nirvana as the first choice. So final vote count was 41.
