Family show or not - no one died because one nipple on TV. This problem is not real or important. Too much noise about nothing IMO. And I really sympathize with Adam about this AMA's performance. I think it was hard for him, especially at beginning of his career, to cope with expectations of everyone. Fans wants that, LGBT wants this, label something else. He was angry and confused. I can understand this - been there, done that, got a T-shirt (way too many times, actually). Well said! Adam has so much pressure from all sides to deal with and I admire him so much for doing it so well. I agree with those who said that the AMAs ultimately did him more good than harm because certain fans would have deserted him eventually anyway. When I saw the clip in the Behind the Music special of Kathie Lee Gifford saying he lost her because he was just vulgar, all I could think was, "Who the hell cares what Kathie Lee Gifford thinks?" Misgivings by Kathie Lee Gifford are pretty much the ultimate endorsement, IMO!

So I am on #5 'Raise Your Weapon' and I love it but had to totally skip the Claude Kelly because it just is so 'Before' as opposed to 'Next'. It made me think of Adam doing the demos and being asked to sound like someone else and so I looked and noticed that the singer of the demo was not named. If the person becomes famous, I am sure that a Welsford-like zombie will be there to cash in. Ok, still listening. Yeah, I'm with you on the Kelly track (surprise surprise) but felt I couldn't in good conscience leave it out given the lyrical coincidence, and the fact that Adam def. worked with him this time around. Isn't that Kelly on the track, by the way? Didn't look into it so closely, but I thought he actually released the track himself somehow? Also, I seem to recall a lot of fans on this board liked it a lot, so I didn't want to make this list too much about my own personal preferences, which are certainly not always representative. Also, you may notice, I just moved "Raise your Weapon" back in the list because playing through the list again it seemed sooo long and I didn't want to lose people so early :D. I like it a lot, too, though. Credit to Chunkey, I believe, who suggested it a few days ago as a potential sound for Adam 2... Okay, sorry to go on about my process--glad to get the feedback, though!

Hey Y'all :D! As it's a slow day (ya know it's slow when we're back on the AMAs again ;D) and I'm in a lull with work waiting for someone else to respond to me, so I just played a little game on youtube... As we wait (and wait and wait and wait) for Adam 2 to be released, I thought I'd make the waiting a little easier by putting together all the little tidbits we've gleaned in the form of a playlist. I just mashed together songs we know about (OOL, Cam's Dreamer), conjecture (that Claude Kelly track, for example), collaborators we've learned about (Pharrell, Mckee, Nikka Costa, Nile the Smile, Benni Blanco, Sam Sparro), influences Adam has mentioned (Daft Punk, Wolfgang Gartner, Prince, MJ, Adele, Depeche Mode), and just random guesses at the album's sound and put together a 20-track playlist (well, really it's 19 tracks but I'm a sucker for "Dreamer" so I included both Cam's version and the lowered "fake-Adam" version). So obviously this will not resemble Adam 2 in any way whatsoever (LOL for some reason it makes me think of the Hitchhiker's Guide reference to an artificially created "substance almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea"--my Adam 2 mix is "almost, but not quite, entirely unlike" Adam 2!). Still, it was fun to play around with it and to play it for myself and pretend, just for a moment, that I'm listening to Adam 2. ANYWAY, I wanted to post the link to the playlist here in case any of you are interested, and more importantly so I can get your input and edit/improve my list. This was just a first stab at it (aided largely by suggestions and links from peeps here on the board over the past few months) and I'd love to hear your thoughts. I've never "shared" a playlist before so I hope I'm doing it right. If anyone who can be bothered to check it out can let me know that the link works for you guys that would be great. (Also if you could warn me if the link somehow gives away too much personal info, say my home address, SS#, and the name of my future first born child, that would be great--I'm kinda paranoid about sharing info on the interwebs!) SO, blah blah blah I'll shut up now here's the playlist: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC030B6992DFCB73DLet me know whatcha think (but only if you're bored enough :D). Playing it now. Thank you!

Late to the topic as usual, but I want to weigh in on the X Factor. I just got the time (and inclination) to catch up on the show over the last few days. I saw a few of the auditions before and thought they were blah. So sick of back stories. Got to say, I'm really NOT enjoying this show. I think doing full-on extravaganza productions with Karaoke singers is laughable. I think Simon's manipulating the whole thing. The judges insulting each other, the overly sexy performances, Rachel Crow singing Satisfaction etc. Don't you think Simon knows the song was inappropriate and would cause a stir. I wouldn't be surprised if he even picked an Adam song knowing it would get the attention of the massive Glambert army. Give me a break. He gets to mentor the young girls. Surprise, surprise. He gets to go back and give one girl another chance (one of the best singers). What drama. Ho Hum. I really felt used and manipulated after watching. He's a smart guy and I hope he helps Adam, but I shudder to think that the viewing audience is really that gullible that they are buying his schtick. Don't mean to insult anyone here that's enjoying the show. I'm enjoying the Sing Off and even went to "The Voice" concert. This just seems to me like the "Jerry Springer" of "talent" shows only with a huge budget. So.... too cynical? I totally agree I am tired of the dramatics and Simon is making this more about the drama then the singing. I love the Sing Off , the judges are all about the singing their feedback is very good and I love how they know the names of most of the singers seeing there are so many. They seem very vested in this. There is no drama and fighting with the judges.
