Here's my 2 cents about Adam being a control freak or not: I think there's a difference between being controlling and being anal/compolsive. The anal type (did anyone call my name? ) got to have things their way, and can't deal when things change a little. If I had a show prepared, I don't know how I'd deal with a stage being quarter of the size I'm used to, a member of the band missing, or even the weather being too hot/cold to wear whatever was planned. Adam is waaaay flexible, and always gets the best out of every situation. And he doesn't get stuck on details, imo. I don't believe the reason for the GN dvd being late is because of him fussing about each and every frame. I think he appreciates that there are people who actually studied directing and editing, and are better equiped. He probably had a general idea of what he wanted, and made sure it came through. He took the blame for it being late because he always takes the blame :D But it doesn't mean it was really his own direct fault. As for being controlling - I remember some interview with one of the band or dancers, can't remember who and where, who said that somehow, with time, things always turned out the way Adam wanted them. To me it means that he understands that the interaction between people is more important than anything, and he doesn't force his opinions, and doesn't insist on things happening right now, on the expense of good relationships. He just lets things happen organically ( his way ).

Jazz is quoting from the Durb thread on MJ from 11/26/11. Hillarious... I looked thru just for laughs... I have been reading it for the laughs too.. What I find interesting.. is the neg comments.. why bother commenting? The defense is actually what is hysterical.(Maybe that is why there are so many posts about how bad it was.. so the defenders have to defend?) How many ways can you say.. "Rock is suppose to be OFF PITCH" .... LOL oh really...Guess we can all be rock stars now.. cause I couldn't sing on pitch if you paid me..LOL If you don;t care for it.. OK.. I don't care for JD.. AT ALL.. but, to comment at MJ"s is just making it look like JD is Polarizing and sorry to me he is not.. I still see him as a WANNA BE.. and lack of interent would be the bigger message.. I was there yesterday and was scratching my head reading all the fans complementing his vocal and that his songs have 2 - 3 octaves : . Since I don't have a stomach to play and listen to his YTs I was just scrolled thru until someone posted that he told the audiences that he wants to have a one off show and it will only happened if it sold out. But his label/management quite good that they can get him to play in a few sport events and get his song to be part of somekind of sport CD. just hoping that they are not too confident enough to ask him singing the anthem. It's going to be a suicide.

My son visited me today. I have earlier talked about Adam to him. He has just commented that he doesn't know who he is. Today he told me that he had now listened to Adam's music on youtube and that he is a new Adam fan. He said that he used to think that Adam was just "another celebrity", but now he knows that Adam really can sing - "his voice is just amazing and superior". He had listened to Adam's AI and EMA performances. He wondered how can it be possible that Adam didn't win AI. I told him that there were hatecampaigns against him due to his sexual orientation. It's obvious that (nearly) all people just loves him after they have become acquainted with his music.

Waiting for DD to bring back my car so I can hit the stores in search of my own RS.... debating on my cover choice.... Hendrix or VanHalen.. decisions decisions...... hope I can get one or the other.
So I have a question..
If GNT Live DVD is nominated for Grammy... would Adam be accepting or would that be RCA or the editors of the Vid? ..

I personally felt like it was because most all of Danny Gokey votes went to Kris Allen. Sure, there was some homophobic stuff going on, and I even heard that church pastors were asking their congregations to vote for Kris. Then there was the AT&T phone give a ways, and power text voting going on. for Kris in Arkansas. I don't think anyone will ever know for sure. But I don't know if the final vote was even close, cause they never said anything about it. Bottom line, even though Adam wasn't the official winner of AI, he was the real winner by a long shot.

To me it means that he understands that the interaction between people is more important than anything, and he doesn't force his opinions, and doesn't insist on things happening right now, on the expense of good relationships. He just lets things happen organically ( his way ). I largely agree with you and also LOVED your post, Anjalee!! We throw the terms control freak and perfectionist around (Adam does too), but I tend to agree with the psychological definition of perfectionism, which is generally viewed as compulsive, neurotic and in its extreme, OCD. Here's a quick Wiki overview: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfectionism_(psychology)I like this definition and think it is far more applicable: Greenspon makes a distinction between perfectionism and striving for excellence.[6][7][8][9] The difference is in the meaning given to mistakes. Those who strive, however intently, for excellence can simply take mistakes (imperfections) as inducements to further learning and work. Unhealthy perfectionists take mistakes as signs of personal defects that make them less acceptable. Anxiety over potential failure is the reason perfectionism is felt as a burden. Perfectionists are rarely satisfied and will beat themselves (and others) up mercilessly in their constant pursuit of "perfection," which is rarely ever attained. Adam "strives for excellence" and can make mistakes and laugh them off very easily. He has great attention to detail and works very hard to get everything right, but then he lets it go. If he nailed it, great! If he didn't, he seems to study, take into account and move on. Just like the advice he used to give to the other contestants of AI (Lil talked about it in an interview once) – if you messed up a performance or it didn't go as well as you expected, evaluate it, learn from it, and LET IT GO. You will torture yourself by dwelling on it. He also touched on that in the MTV interviews with Johnny Cota – you try something, if it works, great! If not, it's, "Okay, that didn't work – next!" True perfectionists can't do this. True perfectionists wouldn't have been able to laugh off the fact that he fell on stage or he sometimes forgets the lyrics or he didn't sing at the AMAs as well as he knows he's capable. True perfectionists would NEVER be able to improvise with the insane abandon that he does – they would have to plan and agonize over every detail – whereas he goes balls to the wall and makes EVERY show different. He's done his prep – now he can create with total freedom. I also agree with Anjalee's points that a true control freak would not respect other people's creativity the way he does. Again, he strives for excellence and expects and inspires it in others but from all accounts (from interviews and comments by the GNT crew) he does it by leading with a very positive and nurturing example. Not by being dictatorial and rigid. It's rarely a positive experience working for a true control freak/ perfectionist, but someone who works very hard to strive for excellence and creates a positive environment in which to create? AWESOME!!
