If I recall Zac, who played keyboard early on, said he was not interested in touring, but always thought he was really good. He seemed very able to follow Adam's lead (remembering Fantasy Springs WLL), and in general is a very talented player. Will be interesting to see who lands where... As I recall in re WWL at FS, Monte said he was very resistant to changing up a classic, but that Adam insisted because Adam had the vision. In the end Monte said he was glad they did it, but he wasn't interested until "the boss" (as he said) forced him to do so and he heard it. That is one reason I want band members with musical flexibility -- people with more openness to Adam's ideas. I don't want Adam to hear, "We can't" when he comes up with a musical idea. I want Adam to hear, "Let's try it!" when he comes up with a musical idea. I remember an article where Monte talked about the FS WLL and said that he thought they'd get slammed for messing with a classic Led Zeppelin song. I don't recall him being hesitant to try it. Adam told us that he practiced that version as he drove to Indio and then basically sprung it on the band and they played it with barely any prep. The whole thing was genius, and Adam was the mastermind there. Bottom line is-- I think Adam has the vision and the balls-- all he needs are people with enough talent and the willingness to go where he wants to go vocally and creatively. |

Oh, I found the article where Monte talks about FS WLL: He has a vision, like the acoustic version of "Whole Lotta Love" that we did out near Palm Springs. We thought "Man, we shouldn't be messing with this (laughs). We don't need to be doing an acoustic version of "Whole Lotta Love". We're gonna get trashed for this". To this day, it's the most popular thing that we did. One of the cool things was that it kept the integrity of the song. Within all musical partnerships (which is what Adam and Monte had for a time) there are always tensions. Keither Richards and Mick Jagger have written some of the biggest songs of all time together and they still had their issues and outs, but in the end they worked through it, or put it in a corner in service to the greater good. I would like Adam to find a collaborator who he can riff off and it seems like there are a few who fit that bill on this album, whether they will be long term collaborators only time will tell. When you are betting 24/7 it is hard to remember that Adam has only been on the scene for a couple of years, let's give him some space to find the people who are right for him and trust that he knows them when he sees them.

The band in which my son drums will be on Jimmy Fallon tomorrow. I put info and some links to them playing live in the member's news thread. If you like indie music check it out.

People - please explain to me why are you flailing over Adam's promoter being ecstatic about Adam's album? Isn't it her job? If she were not doing that wouldn't she be undermining her own job? ..and yes, I do know the history of the FYE promo in UK, but still... logically I see no reason to be surprised. Anyone else - I am flailing with you, but Shoshanna or RCA or DMG people - I am staying calm and collected. re Adam's next "Crew" - I don't care. I just trust him. I am absolutely confident he will find the people he needs, I only hope he has a nice budget this time so he can have his imagination fly!  |
