Adam is going to need someone with a funk sensibility, dontchathink?
What about Tommy's girlfriend? What does she play?
Adam knows so many people in the music biz now, I think he will be able to choose on both skill and ability to get along with the group. Also, he's going to need a new music director

Brian May was in the Top 20 (17, I think) of that RS article about the Top 100 guitar players of all time. So, yes, you are correct. That level is hard to achieve and not easy to find. I wouldn't judge Tommy's skills by the 2 times he stood in for Monte. They were both last minute changes and even Cam had to switch instruments (I think.) So, ya, not a good perspective, IMO. Wasn't Arnie the bus driver on the US leg of the tour?  ETA: I don't stan Tommy, cassie, but I think you may be underestimating him. I also don't play guitar but I think his lead videos with Ravi are pretty damn great. Different than Monte, not as heavy is the way I would descrine it. I do know 2 people who are guitar players and have said, in their opinion, Tommy is better than Monte. Yes, IIRC Arnie was the bus driver and I think I remember him saying that he would be a driver on the next tour as well, but sometimes my memory is a tad fuzzy. ;D |

IMO, Tommy will be cast in the next show because he has proven he can learn his musical part, he has the look that Adam wants, he plays well off of Adam, and he and Adam have a good relationship with some similar esthetics and attitudes. YMMV Yes, i go with this prediction. They get on well and Adam really values that with his team. Also, the look is good, i credit him for that. Have to say, i thought he didnt always look comfortable with the fanservice, sometimes he looked just passive, sometimes a little energetically recoiled. But i wondered if that was not really a big deal because both Adam and he were just viewing it as part of the performance. |

Also, he's going to need a new music director That is why I think Adam will get a very funky bass guitarist. Tommy's gilrfriend plays bass!  I see Cam as a good musical director. She has the experience, is a producre, writer, and I think she and Adam really get along well. |

I could probably find a post of mine from well over a 12/18 months ago hoping that Tommy would get moved to rhythm guitar and a funkadelic bass player be found and hired for his spot. If they play funk on tour an experienced and versatile bass person is mandatory.
Assuming Monte is gone that opens up a lead guitar spot and my hope for that is a kick ass musical person be found- one that understands all types of music and has some innovation skills as well as stage presence. Adam needs a worthy foil in this position.
And just IMO but we can't possibly expect Adam's band to compare with Queen.
Every single member of that band was a virtuoso musician and an extraordinarily skilled writer- there was not one iota of slack in that group ever.
That's a pipe dream.

Adam is not a band. I don't care about Tommy one way or the other except that the cray tommyberts disgust me, but imo Adam doesn't need virtuoso musicians but people who form a backing band that blends into the background. Hopefully Tommy will stop his headbanging and whoever suggested Cam as musical director - I co-sign this (if only Adam would ask us :D). |
