Andrew Lloyd Webber & “Cinderella” Original London Cast Expected 16 Apr 2021 The tracklisting of the original cast recording of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella has been revealed. Listed as featured performers on the original cast recording are Sarah Brightman (The Phantom of the Opera), Helen George (Call The Midwife), Laura Baldwin (Waitress), Georgina Castle (9 to 5 the Musical), Sam Robinson (We Will Rock You), Gloria Onitiri (Hadestown), Adam Lambert (Queen + Adam Lambert) and Todrick Hall (Kinky Boots). They join the previously announced Carrie Hope Fletcher, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt and Ivano Turco. Now that is a very interesting list of names! ! ! I think the majority of this list will be in the original London cast which is incredibly exciting, though I have a feeling some of the bigger names are just recording numbers from the show. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella is the exciting new musical comedy, set to completely reinvent the world’s best-loved fairytale when it opens in London’s West End in Spring 2021. Featuring a brand new score by the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Oscar-nominated David Zippel, with a script from Killing Eve’s Emerald Fennell. Amazon also has Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella (Original Cast Recording) listed for release on 16th April 2021. Andrew Lloyd Webber was one of the producers of NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar (the one with J Legend), so my guess would be that's where he met and heard Adam. Who knows what happened there that caused Adam's role to be swapped at the last minute, but that encounter must be what made ALW want to have Adam on another project of his.

It wasn't confirmed but the way Adam tweeted about everyone who was announced, the Outfit for Judas Had Adam written ALL over it and the guy who Ended Up playing Judas basically let Slip that He was booked on short notice and didnt really know the Musical...so...yeah...

Well, this whole Cinderella thing is a confusing kettle of fish. So Adam has one song. And his name on the other three songs means that they are group songs? Or he has writing credits?(doesn't make sense). I am very glad he has the one song! Just confused about the other ones. So cool to know that he did his recording at the historic Abbey Road studios.
I never did think that Adam was in the running for the role of Judas in ALW's JCS. If he was, I never saw it anywhere. We Adam fans were actively asking about Adam's chances for the role, but it didn't seem like he was seriously considered. If I missed something, please tell me.
This new Cinderella sounds very sassy and modern. I hope it's big hit and lots of people hear Adam's voice on the soundtrack.

Idk wasn’t there some speculation that JCS would interfere with his Queen tour? Also there was some talk (can’t remember where) that John Legend wanted to win the Emmy so didn’t want a Judas stronger than him. I find that a stretch but who knows. Also I think the actor who played Judas was terrific.

As far as I know, most of the JCS casting was announced without many rumors flying around about potential participants, so there's really no way to know if Adam was seriously considered unless he tells us one day - lack of press doesn't indicate one way or the other. Adam's own behavior on social media was a source of a great deal of the fan speculation, with his likes and follows of the announced cast and even NBC (or whatever network it was that was showing it), but that could have just been Adam Being Adam, enthusiastic about an upcoming production of a show he loved. There was a poster here (Pineapple Ophelia, I think?) who said she had a contact at WBR, his label at the time, who implied pretty strongly he had the role. Much later, she said she was indeed told he had it but that something happened. If that's indeed how it went down, I'd assume the issue was QAL-related, but who knows. Whatever the reason it didn't happen, I seriously doubt it was because John Legend was afraid Adam would be stronger than him - if that had been his concern, casting a Judas with heavy duty musical theatre credentials wasn't the way to go.
One thing I do remember less than fondly was some rather heavy-handed insistence from some of the more prominent, vocal fans that it was a sure thing he had the role, and sort of vaguely or less-than-vaguely implying those who were skeptical just weren't into the spirit of the thing. After so many projects that "of course he had" that never came to be, I found that to be a rather risky, and frankly presumptuous, take on things.

There was a lot of want and rumor that Adam was going to get a role in JCS but it all seemed to be speculation. No facts. He may not have even been available. Fans were trying to interpret his tweets as some sign and clue that he indeed had the part. It certainly got everyone all worked up. When it did not happen, it became he was rejected. There was no indication that was the case. Adam never said it was. But some tried to turn their beliefs and speculation into facts. But putting out there that he was pushed aside (without knowledge) would not be very helpful for Adam. It happened another time when we were assured that he had a judging spot on Idol. Some fans were certain because they saw all the signs. Don't worry, he's got this we were told, lol. Didn't happen. There are likely many opportunities that cross Adam's path that he may or may not be interested in. He may not get a chance to go for it or it may not fit into his schedule. When he has something in the bag he will let us know or the appropriate people will put it out there. Fans are generally not in the loop or in the know. Speculation is just that until he or TPTB say otherwise. Adam gets many opportunities that we can celebrate and I think being on the cast recordings is one of them.
