OT: There was a young man, who appeared on one of my soaps recently, and I thought I recognized the name tho not him. I looked him up and sure enough I had seen him appear on Nashville Star many years ago. He was more of a pretty boy back then, with his long hair, and I guess he was also a model. It was so painful to watch him compete. He was not the best singer and did not deserve to win but he was pretty good and better than many on the show. But one of the judges (right-wing country singer John Rich) HATED him. His comments and disdain were apparent. He used term like "you're sweet" in a sarcastic and dismissive manner. I don't know it the dislike was because he was such a pretty boy or because Rich thought he might be gay and didn't belong in country. Or he tried to imply that must be the case because of his good looks. He clearly wanted him off the show. And he got eliminated early. I really felt bad for him because the treatment was uncalled for. He was doing nothing other than competing and trying to kickstart his career in the music industry. I wondered how things would work out for him, but like most contestants you never hear a thing about them again.
So I was pleased to find out that he did not let that ugly experience stop him. Over the years, he has had a number of acting gigs to his credit. He is also married to one of my favorite, and very pretty, soap stars. They have two young daughters. It just goes to show that if you want it bad enough, you will not let one envious bigot stop you. One door may close in Nashville but others can open in Hollywood, lol. I was truly happy for him.

I love when bigots like this John Rich and Simon get the finger that way, Lurleene. Although Simon did become one of Adam's biggest fans lol. I always laugh at the part in the documentary where he tries to excuse his "theatrical" comment on not being in a good mood that day.
Sure, Simon.
But our Adam sure showed him, didn't he?

Well, that was much better than the TicTok version.

I hope we are not "taking the piss out of" ( SophieB , I hope I am using the term correctly) fans here on Adamtopia who had inordinate amounts of fun speculating, reading tea leaves, finger-testing the wind direction, connecting vague dots, etc. based on random and highly dubious information that Adam might play Judas. I was one of those fans and despite being a smidge disappointed because I wanted to hear him sing those songs, I was immediately ready to move on to the next flight of fancy. To bring joy to the world, it is best to occasionally let go of our inner critic and wallow in the vast unknown. Perfect! I am used to it now, but we also use ‘pissed’ in a different way. If in US you were annoyed by something I think you’d say ‘I was pissed’ whereas we would say ‘I was pissed off’. ‘I was pissed’ means ‘I was inebriated’. That too... I use pissed and pissed off interchangeably, but rarely pissed as inebriated. Ahhh, the multi-varied language of excretory function.

I checked the site and just over $3,000.00 has been raised. I am shocked. Sad really. Hope things pick up!
edit add ---now 10,000 ish ---hoping for 30,000.00
The proceeds do stay in the US for their charitable groups, but still a good cause. Although not an American, I donated. All those stars gifting a real Xmas concert...gosh...maybe should have been like the Hulaween ??-- Bette Midler special and the other concert in a half hour---pay for preview of the concert.

Ever onward! Being in the same general age group as Dolly Parton and not being much of a country music fan, I was never more than tangentially knowledgeable about her. However, now that she is known to have contributed to the covid vaccine and recently saved a child from oncoming traffic (https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2020/12/dolly-parton-saves-co-stars-life-coronavirus), I have been reading a few things and came across this clip from a 1977 interview with Barbara Walters. Her answers and demeanor here remind me very much of Adam, although he admittedly has a ways to go before attaining Dolly's legendary status. It's a useful and grounding perspective whenever I think Adam has stepped a little too far outside the box. I guess it's never to late to become a Dolly fan. What a beautiful soul.
