I hope we are not "taking the piss out of" ( SophieB, I hope I am using the term correctly) fans here on Adamtopia who had inordinate amounts of fun speculating, reading tea leaves, finger-testing the wind direction, connecting vague dots, etc. based on random and highly dubious information that Adam might play Judas. I was one of those fans and despite being a smidge disappointed because I wanted to hear him sing those songs, I was immediately ready to move on to the next flight of fancy. To bring joy to the world, it is best to occasionally let go of our inner critic and wallow in the vast unknown.

Ha, I think the middle name of ANY fandom is SPECULATION.

I agree speculation does Adam no good.. It looks like we wish things to be true that are not and then great disappointment. How come Adam was pushed aside ,when in fact he was never even in the room ,to be pushed aside. My other bit of a gripe.. Some fans get so excited when Adam is included with very famous people... IMHO,Adam is one of those very famous people.. and worldwide. maybe time to stop acting like Adam is an underdog..Me included. I'm guilty of moaning about iTunes, etc. My daughters laugh at me and give off a litany of Adam's accomplishments, travel, fame and money.. It quiets me down for a while.LOL

I've done it myself, many times, over the years. What I objected to at the time, and still do, is when fans - more on Twitter than here - are so convinced their speculations are on target that they seem to find fault with fans who aren't ready to pop open the champagne bottles until there is a formal announcement, as if they're being needlessly negative. At the time of the JCS speculation, I felt as if I were being put on the defensive a bit, or was being a wet blanket, because I pushed back by refusing to acknowledge the certainty of the casting in spite of all the "clues" Adam was supposedly giving us.

Ever onward! Being in the same general age group as Dolly Parton and not being much of a country music fan, I was never more than tangentially knowledgeable about her. However, now that she is known to have contributed to the covid vaccine and recently saved a child from oncoming traffic (https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2020/12/dolly-parton-saves-co-stars-life-coronavirus), I have been reading a few things and came across this clip from a 1977 interview with Barbara Walters. Her answers and demeanor here remind me very much of Adam, although he admittedly has a ways to go before attaining Dolly's legendary status. It's a useful and grounding perspective whenever I think Adam has stepped a little too far outside the box. I guess it's never to late to become a Dolly fan. twitter.com/Dazed/status/1295396072563630082?s=20

And those have been many and varied. Adam is finding ways to get included in lots of appearances with lots of well-known, successful people. He's not always just on the fringes. He's right in there. He is respected and well-liked. I have always hoped that he would be able to diversify his career beyond making albums and touring. I would love for him to do those things forever, but he has other skills, to. He has said that he'd love to get into writing and producing someday, for example. I need to remind myself to just enjoy the ride. I feel like I'm following someone's life, not just his songs or performances. I've never followed anyone like this before. It's a fascinating roller coaster journey.

If in US you were annoyed by something I think you’d say ‘I was pissed’ whereas we would say ‘I was pissed off’. ‘I was pissed’ means ‘I was inebriated’. That too...
