I hope this single is better than a WWFM part deux. yes WWFM was really his only *major* hit and it's the *safe* choice, but it didn't exactly catch the pop charts on fire and HE NEEDS that this era. I mean there is always hope for subsequent singles to be dancier and more pop....but I am totally stressing they are gonna make this an HAC song and CHR success will be limited. I AM SO ANGSTY!! MY EMOTIONS GUISE!! Ugh trying not to be debbie downer....I am sure I will love it....but he really needs to have some smash pop success to get massive radio play and sales. I really hope he has Bruno Marsian type success with this single or that the fact that pop blog thought it sounded like something JT should record today means that he can crack some of the more urban leaning CHR stations... I SRSLY CANNOT HANDLE THIS ANYMORE. I AM ALL CONFUSED AND HAPPY BUT ANGSTY AND A LITTLE GASSY TBH. GUUUUUH. Didn't Bruno Mars break out on the song Grenade? Which is a mid-tempo song. A song doesn't have to be wild-ass up-tempo to be a radio hit. And radio hit is the goal, right? I have to assume that Adam and his team went with what is most likely to achieve that goal, and are gonna put 100% effort into pushing it to hit status. There is absolutely no reason for the label to go for anything less than a hit-- they want to make a ton of money, they want the album to sell like hell. Why would they sabotage any of that and go for something that doesn't work? Far be it from me to stop anyone from angsting their hearts out, but I really don't get it, myself.  As I recall his first hits were guesting on the BOB track 'Billionaire" and then 'Just The Way You Are' was his first solo smash. Then Grenade. Yes he has had a lot of midtempo smashes but he had to guest on tracks to start out and all of these tracks have had urban acceptance and were played on stations like KIIS and such, stations that scorn Adam. My KIIS station here in Cleveland I never heard play Adam. Never. Maybe he got played a few times but I never heard it. =( As for why would the label want to go with a song that wouldn't be a huge smash--KELLY'S MR KNOW IT ALL. The labels don't always know best. Just sayin. I'm sure in a few hrs my emotional pendulum will swing back the other way, but it's that line about seeing where he will fit in the radio landscape by an assistant pd of a radio station that scorned WWFM the first go around kind of has me worried. I hope in the end it means nothing but...it bugs. Idols have a tendency to get saddled with the HAC tag and seeing how hard Adam worked this era to make a POP STAH record, if he gets relegated to HAC I will rage tbh. Oh and I dontcurr if angsting is selfish...lol...I usually try to be positive but I am gonna express how I feel about this and nah nah nah nah nah. |

First we learned that The Chosen One was mid-tempo and radio friendly.
Then we were getting a song of which demo was, IMHO, pretty crappy.
Then we got it re-worked and funk-ified, with a dub-step bridge.
Then it was supposed to be dancey and wail'ey and GaGa-ifyied.
Then we learned that it was supposed to be released with a BANG.
And now it's WWFM2 with the label not even knowing at this stage if the song should be offered to pop or Hac.
WTF is going on? Too many attention hoggers in twitter? Trolls? Label changing their modus operandi by the ear?

I think this is a time for celebration. I guess I'm too happy it's all about to happen to angst. And either you guys didn't see that roger Taylor interview or you don't think it's relevant to today. I think it's significant that roger is saying they are going to do something with Adam.... It sounds likely to happen! But what? Another one time appearance? A collaboration on a song? I'm excited!!!
Shit-- EVERYONE has said positively great or glowing things about the stuff they've heard from Adams album. I believe it's going to be phenomenal. I have enough faith in the man to know he's not going to be singing WWFM over and over again.. He's too smart and too artistically rigorous to stick himself in a rut.
I'm gonna stick to my rose colored world.

But didn’t Adam himself say that BTIKM will be upbeat? Jeez, the more “information” we get, the more confusing it gets... After all this “the song will drop in tomorrow/this week/next week/next month/next year/maybe 2020” is really making me feel like I’ve run a double marathon or something. :  Oh why, Adam, can’t you just give us some accurate news for a change? while I still have a sensible thought or two left in my head...
