Tell me about indifferent friends! Like when you share on facebook soaked from GNT and all they can say is that he looks like a prettier version of Sara Montiel. Lets look it on the bright side: Sara used to be really pretty. in reply to Lulu2365 and gzkeydo you know what my 40-year old son, who used to play guitar in a band in his twenties (and hence I've always believed him to be my music "expert"), said after I twisted his arm into watching the EMA Queen video? He said: Established artists need not embellish their performances with all that warbling. At that point, I gave him up for lost... but I feel bad his remark left me speechless... CASSIE you can provide a most incisive retort ??? Been thinking about my retort. Best I can come up with is a quote from Adam regarding people who brag about ahow high they can sing: "but, did it sound good?" I happen to agree with your son that many singers do these multiple riffs to show off, and frequently they are not musical, not on pitch, and lose the melody or the point of the song. In this case, however, I think it matched the event, the venue, the song and the band. He sang most of the medley without a lot of embellishment, but at the very end, with the crowd going crazy, with explosions and pyro, with it being the finale of the big show, with it being Queen, a band known for extravaganza, I think it fit. And, boy, did it sound/look good.

Feel free to throw eggs at me and so on, but I do see a reason for concern, as other people have mentioned. Of course there are huge benefits of all this exposure that have already been pointed out and I totally acknowledge, so I am not going to focus on them. But. I do not want Adam to go from "American Idol" straight to "the guy who tours with Queen." If you look at all these articles, all of them define Adam by saying "American Idol runner up" or similar. Not one says "pop star Adam Lambert." Queen is a HUGE deal, and the danger here, for me, is that Adam's own career never reaches up to the level of notoriety that touring with Queen has, and therefore, overall, Adam will be known MORE for touring with Queen than for his own music. TBH, that's the case with Paul Rodgers. I know he has his own career, but for me and most people who are not close followers of his career, he is "the guy who toured with Queen after Freddie". The fame that he got from that is definitely more salient than the one he got from his own career. And I want Adam to be known as an artist in his own right. The whole thing is even more tricky than usual because American Idol was basically a show for singing covers, and touring with Queen means singing covers, so there could be some people who don't even know Adam has his own career. Anyways, that's my piece, feel free to scroll. If I were Adam I would be very careful about saying yes to a lot of dates (1 or 2 is fine, and especially if other stars are doing other dates). I know the attraction is huge (he can sing in front of stadiums!) but he wouldn't do his own music. No eggs from me. I am addicted to his EMA performance and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Adam sing all of Bohemian Rhapsody and a full Queen concert, BUT I, too, am not sure this is the best for ADAM in the LONG RUN---for all the above posted reasons (although I do not know a lot about Paul Rodgers so I will stay out of that arguement.) Putting aside our emotions and what we want, it is not unfounded to worry about a man who is trying to shake the title "American Idol runner-up" (and other barriers) doing a possible "tour" of covers. He would undoubtedly blow the roof off but I am not sure, with all the epicness of the Queen songs, even his own music wouldn't be overshadowed. Adam's voice and artistry is unmatched. But we've all been frustrated with people who just wont give him a chance. The hurdle Adam has is getting people to drop their preconceived notions, (whether that be as just another undeserving AI guy, the gay guy, the weird dressing one, the crude guy from the AMAs etc) and JUST HEAR THE MUSIC. In Adam's case I don't think "any publicity is good publicity" is true anymore. He's at a point now that he has the attention, HIS music needs to be the spotlight. Now I'll duck and cover with you lifetraveler.

I have no worries at all about Adam working with Queen again. None. He has new music coming out and a few, possibly high profile, gigs with Queen, as their special guest, can only be a great thing, imo. Just like the EMA performance, it may very well get people talking and interested enough to check out his music. I think the stars are aligning perfectly for Adam this era. I really do! Just to say I AGREE with this!

I'm really not concerned about the Adam/Queen connection. If anything it is just more press before this single gets released. Adam was smart two years ago when he got off Idol to not bite at those rumours and not pursue what perhaps Brian May would have been excited about, a long term experience with the remainder of Queen.. Adam has been doing his own thing and now has another release on the way. It's perfectly normal for any musician to have more than one project going, more than one iron in the fire.
I think it's brilliant that Roger and Brian and Adam are discussing the possibility of a show of some kind together, no matter when it happens. 2 1/2 years of being a hardcore Adam fan has taught me to let go and trust that Adam knows how to ride the energy of the moment. He really does understand how to take advantage of positive situations and turn negative ones to his advantage. All this press right now about the Queen connection does nothing to hurt him or his upcoming single and album.
As to Paul Rogers from Bad Company, he will always be the lead singer of Bad Co to me. His stint with Queen never defined him for me. I just don't think he filled Freddie' s shoes all that well. On the other hand, I think Adam is more than capable of making that work. There will always be hardcore Freddie fans that will never be satisfied with anyone Roger and Brian choose, who might like to see the other musicians in the band lay down their instruments and call it quits, but that is not fair to them. The remaining members have a right to continue their musical journey and if they work something out with Adam, well, rock on boys! Bring it on, the world is waiting.

Ok, the Olympics-that would be HUGE and SPECIAL and I'm all for it . But a "tour"? Somehow the assumption here is being made that "tour"=a few high profile events. To me " a few" is not a tour and not what they are saying. And I don't think the average reader of these articles necessarily thinks that either. Perhaps "a few" is the reality of it, but I never assume and certainly don't trust the average reader to assume either.

www.stereoboard.com/content/view/169371/9Adam Lambert Set To Join Queen For Tour?Did anyone else notice this little tidbit at the end of the article: "In other Queen news, a biopic about Queen and their iconic ex-frontman is now in the works and will be called ‘Mercury’, starring Borat’s Sacha Baron Cohen." Are they talking about a movie about Freddie? Maybe I should know who this Sacha Baron Cohen is, but I don't have a clue?

Here in our little bubble, where we have everything about Adam listed, this seems like a lot of attention, but it is still a drop in the bucket compared to the real biggies. I think Adam is well on his way to super stardom, but *a lot* of people don't know or remember him. The Queen connection is fantastic, and will, IMO, be an addition to all the other publicity about ADAM's music, and will not be a disadvantage.
I'm declaring this subject a NO ANGST ZONE! ;D ;D ;D

I know everyone is just thinking and wishing out loud, but come on.
Adam is NOT going to give up his solo career to run off and join the circus Queen band.
The real Queen isn't even going to be doing any touring, they're hiring a fake Queen band to do the long tour thing.
