OK, I just popped in for a break in my workday! Regarding the question on "hot linking". IMO it depends on what you are doing and what the purpose is. It was a real issue when storage was expensive, and people used hotlinks to avoid keeping large files on their own server. Now that storage is very inexpensive, the web ediquite rules have changed. IF it is a photo that is copyrighted and the copyright owner does not want the photo distributed on other sites, OR a site that wants traffic for ad views, then hotlinks are often preferred to copying photos. I have only read a few pages of the thread so I may be missing the question and issue entirely. What is frowned on is stealing content without credit. I am very pleased that ATop Members give credit and sources for what is posted here. I really try hard to do it on the Page 1 OP. But that is not universal. I still don't know what is hotlink after goole. I am gonna to delete all my picture links/source here. Totally confuse all this tech terms.  |

If you save a photo and host it on your own photobucket or imageshack or website or whatever then you are not hot linking.
If you simply copy the address of a photo hosted on someone else's website and post that photo somewhere then you are hot linking.
That is someone else is paying for the photo to be online and you are using their bandwidth every time you post it.
Anywhoo- Q3 didn't seem to think it was much of an issue so I am sorry I brought it up.
Q3 comment: It was a big issue for people a couple of years ago. But now the bigger issue is having copyrighted image on an account without owning the photo rights. I do not care which way you do it but make sure to create the source or copyright owner.

I've had all my Queen music on replay since news of the EMAs broke. Now that it looks like we might get more Adam and Queen, I desperately want him to sing "Love of My Life" with them. He could tear this one up. I was also trying to figure out where else I had heard this song, and finally remembered and dusted off my old beloved Scorpions "Acoustica" cd (which is fabulous, by the way).
