Thanks for all of the welcomes! I have been lurking for a while and finally signed up tonight. I wasn't on the old site for a long time but noticed when it disappeared and found this one during a Google search and saw some poster names that I recognized from before. Good to find you guys again!
Saw Adam on the Sundance show tonight. Way too brief but always good to see his smiling face.
Still hoping this Amway thing is not for real. I guess for me, it's just a matter of principle when you do business with people like that, who try to stand in the way of others' civil rights. But ultimately, the decision is up to him.

Just caught up on the thread.
I have to be honest - I find the judgmental attitude towards Adam's business decision expressed here to be quite upsetting... Is he a political figure? Does he "owe" the liberal causes anything? Does he owe us - the fans - any explanations? IDK... Especially that we know nothing about anything in regards to this gig.
I want him to make as much $s as possible as fast as possible. Period.
Sorry for the rant...
waiting for the YT of Joe Zee thingy as I missed the USTREAM...

I'd be willing to bet money that Amway International does not get involved with US politics. I say, go for it, Adam!

I would like to throw a little note here: Not all republicans are right-wingers haters, not all gay people hang out in seedy bars, not all Christians are ultra-conservative bullies, not all jewish people are stingy and not all islamic people like to blow things up. As a moderate Republican, I'm beginning to feel abused. :-/ :-/

Interesting choice of entertainer, and if it is Amway from another country, perhaps the US Amway politics don't follow the products ? Either way, if they are as conservative as people are saying, why didn't they asked David A. or Kris A. or whomever ? : That's what I thought. US Amway probably has connection to the Republican but this is Amway International. And by the way if this gig is true, I would love to see all the Republican (Bachman and friends' or Pat Robinson (whatever) ) reaction knowing that Amway International actually hired an Openly Gay Singer and actualy pay him millions of dollar... HAHAHAHAHA.. Adam for the WIN. ;D There is only one Amway.

Obviously, people have to make their own decisions about what is acceptable to them and what is a deal-breaker in terms of being someone's fan. And in between there is a lot of room for opinions about what Adam does and doesn't do. Far be it from me to tell anyone what to think or feel or to judge what is important to them.
Something worth considering, though-- do we research the values, beliefs, politics, and personal failings of all of the artists whose work we enjoy? Do we study their affiliations both personal and professional? Do we examine how they interact with colleagues, peers, fans, friends, and family? Do we withdraw support and erase their music from our files, or stop going to their movies, or throw away their books, if we discover something we disagree with in any of the above?
It's important to remember that we know far more about Adam than we are likely to ever know about any other artist we enjoy. And the more we know, the more it becomes obvious that he is not a saint or an god, but simply a young man making his way through life doing the best he can. Just like the rest of us.

I have nothing against Republicans (since I am one) and I fully support Amway's first amendment rights --- but the combination of Adam + Amway is just odd. I just hope he is getting a ton on money. ETA: And is headed somewhere else in Asia Pacific.

I have no opinion on Adam's business decisions and anyone who doesn't realize that every corporation is in bed with some politician or political party is naive. By the way, if you eat at Chick Fil A, you are supporting the same corporate mentality as is present at Amway. I eat at Chick Fil A anyway because I like it and who knows who Ronald McDonald donates to.
