Q3 My thought is that DeVos must have no idea that they booked Adam. Then he is in for a wonderful and stimulating surprise ;D ;D ;D ;D Booking Adam in Asia need not go up such high chain. And, hence, things happen for mysterious reasons ...

So, has this Amway gig been officially confirmed? I missed that in the thread. Thought it was just an old rumor. If it is true, I, too, am puzzled at the invitation. For Adam to accept this, they must be paying a Shitload of money. I mean, accepting a one off for the EMAs with Queen, that's serious cache. But Amway? Forgetting politics for a moment, my impression has always been that it is a huge pyramid scheme that attracts people with limited means and an unsophisticated, rather naive mentality and convinces them they are going to get rich selling overpriced cleaning products, cosmetics, and the like to their family and friends. It doesn't exactly fit with Adam's brand or sensibilities. Nor will it likely bring him credibility as an artist. On the other hand, appearing and potentially wow-ing that demographic may, just may, cause a few to look beyond the "gay" and open their eyes and hearts a little bit. If one only preaches to the choir, it is hard to spread one's message broadly. Adam believes in spreading his message of acceptance, tolerance, and diversity. Is Amway a bad place to give it a try? J/s This is a private gig that is going to pay tons of money. Everyone does them- Beyonce, Gaga, Pink, Rihanna, Katy P, Usher and the list goes on. Sometimes, the super rich hire big names to perform at flippin' sweet 16 parties! Every performance doesn't have increase credibility. All artists do these types of gigs- for a price. None of them are too good for a well-paid private gig!

Man, I hope he charged them BIG, BIG Bucks for this Amway thing! How about 500K? That might be worth a weekend trip!!! ;D according to this web site, 500K is not beyond the realm of possibilities "Imagine making $1 million or a 45 minute performance, or $500,000 for 2 hours of stand up comedy, or how about $25,000 just to shake hands with people at an exclusive party for 30 minutes. These are not pipe dreams, but actual figures of what many celebrities earn for their time." knol.google.com/k/how-to-book-celebrity-entertainment-for-your-event# Wonder what Adam wanted in the The Celebrity Rider?

Yes, it appears to be real. And I think it must have been booked by the Japanese Amway management.
The Amway private event is on the Amway Japan site --- Shanghai Amway Leadership Summit on 12/18/11.
Just a guess -- maybe Adam is headed to Asia for the song premiere and they are using this event to pay for the trip.
Shanghai means it could be Japan, SE Asia, AU or NZ. Or maybe China -- but that makes no sense to me.
Are there any big events on 12/17 or 12/19 in Asia-Pacific?
We also have Toby's tweet about the single release being associated with
ETA: I do not know why I am getting such a kick out of this -- but Adam getting paid a ton of money by Amway makes me really, really happy!! Some kind of weird justice.

I think it's funny that they chose Adam - wonder if the head honchos know about this. If not, would be fun to see their reaction if they find out after the fact. Hope he gets a ton of money and there is little press about it.

I would like to throw a little note here: Not all republicans are right-wingers haters, not all gay people hang out in seedy bars, not all Christians are ultra-conservative bullies, not all jewish people are stingy and not all islamic people like to blow things up. As a moderate Republican, I'm beginning to feel abused. :-/ :-/ Thanks for this!!!! ITA! We are so desperate for music news, now we are angsting over a business decision made MONTHS ago, by Adam and people Adam obviously trusts. Personally I can't wait for Adam to sober up and tell his fans when the single drops. He can stay naked. (You're welcome, Sauli!) ;D ;D ;D

Amway is a privately held US Corporation -- all of the global operations are owned by the same people. They have a ton of money. The company and the two founding families support both Republican (pro-business) and Evangelical Christian causes. They also financially support anti-gay causes....for example: "Amway billionaire Rich Devos, the owner of NBA team Orlando Magic, has donated $100K to support Florida's Amendment 2, which would make gay marriage double-extra banned in Florida. Protesters have been appearing at outside Magic games at Orlando's Amway Arena." Link: joemygod.blogspot.com/2008/10/amway-billionaire-gives-100k-to-fight.html Why in the world would this family spend 100K to fight gay marriage and then turn around and spend tons of money to have an openly gay artist come sing at one of their conventions? ??? I'm sorry, this just doesn't make sense in any way! Do you think the fact that Adam is gay has slipped past them? I hope Adam goes to that gif with really heavy security. Just sayin' This is a really strange world we live in.
