I would have agreed about no announcement until after Mercury goes out of retrograde [D Dec 13 2011 17:43], except that the announcement was scheduled for 12/9/11. But it is interesting that for months all of the rumored dates for single release to radio or onsale have been before or after Mercury Retrograde --- 8/2 - 8/23 and 11/23 - 12/13. Ok, apologies to all who believe but I must say that the ONE thing I don't get about Adam is all the astrology stuff. Admittedly I know next to nothing about it (I did read the link about Mercury in retrograde though) but as a twin I scoff at the idea that people born in the same time will have similar personalities/experiences. Adam seems so smart--can someone explain this to me in a way I could understand? Most astrology is cookbook and therefore many share your skepticism. Anything that tries to reduce you to 12 sun signs, moon signs and/or rising signs is suspect. Even a cherished tenant that ME retrograde is a problem only operates within the astrological "ecosystem" it is embedded in at a particular time. I like to think of it all as a cosmic kaleidoscope. The moment of birth or of a question freeze frames the pattern and that pattern is like a language that someone who understands can "hear" and communicate. There are also many astrological traditions. We are exposed more or less to only Western astrology which has interesting psychological insights but is not the most precise, perceptive or ancient tradition. It broke down entirely in the Middle Ages due to the church and was pieced back together later when it became more acceptable. Yet in our culture, astrology is still "recreational" and on the outskirts whereas in other cultures, it is embedded in and even defines the very structure of society. The differences between twins can be explained by skilled astrologers on the basis of very subtle differentiation on deeper levels of the horoscope Even a few seconds of time can give different results. What do we actually know about the single selection and release date?
Here is the general sequence of events ---
- In August, Adam started to do more work on 3 tracks that could be the lead single.
<buzz about all three tracks is they are radio worthy>
- In November, RCA selected BTIKM as the single.
- Late November, track was finished.
Then in December....
- US & Canada radio stations get to hear BTIKM at hub meetings and via phone. They are told a bit about promo plan and told not to say anything. Most DJs stay silent.
- BTIKM gets serviced to at least some radio stations.
- Sony in several countries confirm it will be released "internationally" and "worldwide".
WTF is the hold up?
>> Many lead singles are released to radio and sale without a major promo event. TV promotions often trail the lead single release.
>> Release expected before Christmas.
>> Since the US/Canada radio is ready.
>> Since there are really no major promo events between now and Christmas. And Adam will be in Shanghai 12/17-19.
The only thing I can come up with is that something is not ready outside of North America -- although I cannot figure out what that could be.

I guess I am the only one who finds 85% of this fan art nearly repulsive? I mean it's nice for aspiring artists to practice their skills using an subject they love, but as far as appreciating it, DNW. There is some I find good- many of Animated's pieces, the chibis, and the odd other piece that captures something unique about Adam. But by and large I think there are a lot of bored 13 year olds out there whose parents need to be saying ooh ahh and taping them to the fridge. Commence throwing tomatoes. Buderschnookie, so you don't like some of the Adam fan art posted here. Not all art appeals to everyone. We get that. But comparing the images you don't like to the efforts of "bored 13-year-olds" that only a parent could love? [deleted by Q3] What's wrong with people sharing images of Adam art that speak to them, regardless of how expertly they were executed? The point of posting these art pieces is that there was something in each image that moved someone. Maybe they're brilliant but they simply don't move you; fine. Maybe they're not so well done; OK too. But just because other people do like them (I think some of the drawings are gorgeous, BTW), and you disagree, you don't have to justify your reaction by making derogatory comments about their creators. Accept the art for what it is - and if you don't like it, pass it by. But let the artists do their thing. Q3 comment: I deleted a bit of this comment because it moved from a comment posing a different point of view to questioning the appropriateness of the comment. I believe that was not the intent but it was too easy to misinterpret. |

I am not defending astrology but.... Twins are not born at the same time -- usually several minutes apart. Even if by Cesarian section. But I thought people of the same sign (this is something like a month time frame right?) have something in common?!! Adam was happy with his band mates because of their signs (as well as some other sub astrological stuff?) but to me that says that people born around the same set of weeks have something in common? IDK This is a common belief based on the Sun sign somehow being dominating. It is charming in a way but superficial. As I mentioned in my previous post, think of the chart as an ecosystem. All the pieces of the chart relate together in a unique way for that individual. The same planet in the same sign in a different "ecosystem" will give an entirely different result. Yet, it is also true that each of the planets has a distinctive mode of action. So although giving a different result, there is something that is nevertheless recognizable and distinct if , for example, Jupiter is involved in a pattern versus Mercury or any other planet. Some planets are "friends" and more compatible. I believe this is what Adam may be looking for when he puts together his teams (to the extent possible) |

I checked the flights from Shanghai to LAX and no matter which non-stop Adam takes, he arrives in LA about 4.5 hours before he left, Shanghai time. (That is cool! I want to do that someday!)
I still say US X Factor is a possibility. Because even though we are discussing, now, why it was delayed from last week. To me that's simple, "Something wasn't quite ready last Friday."
The real question for me, is Why was it moved up in the first place? As recent as the EMAs and the UK visit, Adam was saying single in January. I do not, for a minute, think the Shanghai event has anything to do with the date being moved up.
