OnAirWithRyan On Air/Ryan Seacrest Adam Lambert Previews New Single ‘Better Than I Know Myself’ & Album Cover [/b] By Allison Mitchell Posted on December 15, 2011 at 1:53 PM
Adam Lambert is finally sharing a preview of his new single “Better Than I Know Myself”, which will drop in full on Tuesday. The single is the first song from his sophomore album Trespassing which is set for release on March 20, 2012.
Adam Lambert Uses Twitter To Announce New Album Details Superstar producers Dr. Luke and Claude Kelly produced the track that is sure to be a hit. Luke produced tracks off Britney Spears‘ Femme Fatale, Katy Perry‘s Teenage Dream and Rihanna‘s Talk That Talk to name a few. Kelly also has extensive work with artists like Britney, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys, Pitbull and Whitney Houston among others.
Adam’s new song has his signature rock vocals that are very reminiscent of rock legends like Queen’s Freddie Mercury. We can see the song having the same power ballad success as Adam’s former hit “Whataya Want From Me.” Adam is also rocking his signature over the top hair and an edgy leather jacket on the single’s cover.
In a press release, Adam described his upcoming album as “an exciting journey through the past two years of my life. It’s been a transformative period and I really wanted to make music from what I’ve experienced. All these songs honestly explore the ups and downs of my reality.” We can’t wait to hear the full length album next spring but in the meantime enjoy a short clip of Adam’s new single!

Why I think BTIKMS is gonna be huge. (But, I know nothing about the top 40 scene, so I am just speculating like everyone else) 1. The ear worm factor. The damned chorus has been on endless loop in my head for 4 hours now. 2. The pop flavor of the month factor. This says that when a pop star is hot!, the radio will play it, no matter if the song is any good. And people will become familiar with it and buy it. Right now, Adam is an edgy, interesting, beautiful celebrity du jour. Stations WILL play it, they are eager to start to spin it, and people WILL love it. 3. The Adele factor. In stark contrast to #2, there are occasional break out artists who give us music that is GOOD! That has substance, that we can relate to. And, these occasional artists can also deliver the song, sounding GOOD, unique, and infusing the song with great emotion. Well, from what we can tell, BTIKMS is a great song. And we KNOW that Adam is the best singer and interpreter around today. 4.. The Queen factor: For the segment of the audience that does not care about celebrity, and who shuns "pop" music, Adam has long had the AI albatross around his neck. It has gradually faded, but, with his wildly successful appearance with Queen at the EMAs, he has earned a new level of respect from the jaded , or "too-cool" segment of his potential audience. They are more likely to listen with open minds and give Adam the credit he so richly deserves. Yup, it's all good. Well I agree with the conclusion -- "Yup, it's all good" but I disagree about a couple of the points above. Point 2. IMO Adam could become a major radio star but he isn't yet. Fans will need to request and work hard to help push this song. This time a lot of airplay barriers (fear) have been removed and there is stronger/more effective radio promo leadership at RCA. I also have no idea if non-fans will love or even like this song. I think so. I hope so. But it is hard to forecast hits. Point 4. I do not think that the QUEEN appearance will have much to do with radio airplay or the success of Adam's new music. The Pop music target audience is 15 to 29 (give or take a few years). This audience may know Queen's music but it is not that important to them -- it is 40 years ago -- their parents and grandparents listened to it. The EMA had a small audience in the US and Canada -- mostly online. It made an impact but was not that important in these critical markets. The main benefit from this appearance was online buzz and press, and in the UK market. ----------------- Adam will have a huge Pop hit hit IF girls/women between 12 and 29 decide to buy this track. I spend part of my time trying to forecast what this audience will do, and I have not got a clue yet. But one thing I know -- it is about much more than the vocals -- it is about the image of the artist and the beat, as it it about the "music". All of that said, I am opimistic because: 1. Adam's image is right on. Reading other sites and article comments -- they are filled with LOVE THAT COVER, OMG from the target audience. 2. The song is really accessible and suited to Pop radio. It is also a nice follow-up to Adam two US pop hits -- WWFM and IIHY -- similar but better. 3. RCA seems committed to get this song airplay. The prework has been great. The screwing timing may just work. And this time "King Joe" is running the radio promo. 4. Adam has a passionate fanbase who will request the song and be vocal.

Will BTIKMS be previewed on one radio station prior to the release 12/20 or that morning before all other stations play it? Will stations play it at 12:01am on the 12/20? Or do I just listen to the east coast stations when I wake up?

reason #456 why the odds are on Adam's side – it's time for a male pop star who can match it with the divas! All the ukelele strumming feel good doo whop is fine and dandy but I was over it at Mraz and its still feels old but with no alternatives it gets airplay (oh ok and it is catchy and radio friendly fluff). From the small bit we've heard BTIKM seems to have the ingredients R&B edge, check, rock flair, check, good hook, check, killer vocal, check - add Adams style cred and stir. MALE pop prince to go. Just got back from errands and lunch and I was thinking about this (and what Cassie said) while listening to KIIS-FM (L.A. CHR, the highest-rated station in Los Angeles and one of the largest in the country). Of course, "Moves Like Jagger" was playing ... again. I didn't like that song at first, but then it grew on me, but c'mon, it's been out since June – can we let it go already? Background: During the FYE era, Adam was scorned by KIIS. They added WWFM very early on, but never spun it (maybe a few off-peak times, but not much at all until he was doing Wango Tango in Spring – it had already been out for three or four months). They never added or spun IIHY (and at the time they were playing some very comparable, but not great music). As anyone in the L.A. area can attest, it was MADDENING. There seemed to be no reason for KIIS to act like he didn't exist, yet they did. (Unless it was beneficial to them, such as Wango Tango.) So of course, now I'm getting prepared and have truly believed all along this time would be different (and still do!). Even if they wanted to shun him for whatever reason (Idol connection, homophobia, not urban enough), I hope his collaborators will be the end to any arbitrary scornage. They've spun the hell out of every Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly, (except for FYE), Pharrell, Bruno, Benny song in existence and the consensus is from radio and pop experts, that this song is excellent and ideal for pop radio. What could possibly be there excuse for not spinning it? I am sooo looking forward to all the frustration those of us experienced two years ago to just dissipate away when we don't have to agonize over every spin. And Q3, love what you said a few days ago that Joe R. cut a deal with Clear Channel. Can you elaborate? LOL, looks like Q3 and I were posting at the same time ... ETA: I still disagree with you Re: Queen and kids though, Q3. Like many of said during the great Queen debate, kids love classic rock. In many markets, that's all there is. PLUS Rock Band has made them aficionados. My 17 and 20-year-old nephews and all their friends LOOOVE Queen, Journey, Pink Floyd, Boston – this generation was raised going to concerts with their parents and they don't really have that "my parent's music" thinking. For Adam to sing for Queen made an impression on them, definitely.
