Wow. That means, Oliver will continue his studies in LA after the summer. That’s fantastic news for him and Adam! 😊 Let's hope he stays longer than Javi. I think you get a special Visa for school, right? I've been in the US for about 50 years now, so I don't know anymore what's required to get a Visa.

UCLA is just down the street from Adam's house....well, actually only a few miles lol. Hmmmm, wonder where he'll be staying lol Happy for Adam...he must be over the moon, having his boyfriend on the same side of the pond.

Now which room would be the best suited for a study room? 🤣 Anyone know if the dog that has shown up in Oliver’s IG images...that he put the knitted coat on....is his pup or his room mates?

Which dog? Oliver (or rather his family) has an old dog, that lives with his mother. Any of the other dogs in the pictures belong to friends. Great news about Oliver attending UCLA! Couldn't have worked out better. Adam will be back home and probably be around home a lot with projects that don't require too much traveling. Wonder what Oliver's studies will include? Business? Fashion?
I guess I agree with the "pilot" idea about the Clash of the Cover Bands show. So, Kelly was there for this pilot but not in the actual show that has been officially announced. So happy that Adam is part of this show. It's a US show and I think that's important for good exposure. And there are good people involved in the show. Fingers crossed! Adam has proven that he's very good at this.

As long as Oliver will be studying in the US, he will have a VISA. After that... well, let’s wait, how the relationship with Adam is going to develop. I came/went to the US on a student Visa when I did my MA and it is good for the length of the degree...but...there are strict work rules. In my case, I had a TA funding so I could only work for the University...and I had to come back to Canada each summer. I am not sure that was a general ruling...but I could not afford to stay in the US without work and there was no way to work at the U in the summer. He will def have to travel out of the country to 're' validate his Visa periodically...usually to go home, but it can be done by just crossing into Canada or Mexico...or any other country. Pretty usual. I do not know how much things have changed since I did that in 1995-7. I know I put up a Russian student why came up to Canada [Ottawa] for a few days to renew his Visa and the paperwork got convoluted and he ended up having to stay over a month to get things straightened out. He was also a Grad student in the US..and that was around 2007 or 8.
eta...does anyone have any idea why my typing will suddenly and spontaneously either underline or italic...seemingly on its own. I can 'see' it now as I edit, but the change does not 'show' when I am typing the original. Very curious...it only happens on this site...and seems to have no rhyme or reason. I am leaving it so you can see what I am referencing. It happened in a comment of mine yesterday as well. I do not see it in other's posts...

But I‘ve never heard that friends had to leave the country while they were still studying. Or maybe they just did, because they visited their families. However, if you’re interested, here is some information about the current regulations for a student VISA in the USA. studyinthestates.dhs.gov/guide/f-1/f-1-postsecondary

However, if you’re interested, here is some information about the current regulations for a student VISA in the USA. studyinthestates.dhs.gov/guide/f-1/f-1-postsecondaryPerhaps it was because both myself...and the Russian student...were also working, and funded, as part of our Student Visa...I know if you are working on any sort of foreign visa, you need to return [or cross the border] and renew. I remember Sauli had to do that also with his visa....and I had to do that both as student and as teacher...both times I could only work for the sponsoring institution and had 2 weeks to leave the country once that job or status was ended. It is not easy nor cheap to get a permanent Visa. People emigrating from poor countries have likely got no real chance to move here as things are....I looked into it and the cost was around 15 grand years ago, to hire a lawyer who could make it reasonably possible for you to get the Visa in your own name. I was on an H1B1 and the U did all the work when I went back to teach.
