I don‘t know much about American VISA, since EsTA had been enough for me. But I‘ve never heard that friends had to leave the country while they were still studying. Or maybe they just did, because they visited their families. However, if you’re interested, here is some information about the current regulations for a student VISA in the USA. studyinthestates.dhs.gov/guide/f-1/f-1-postsecondaryPerhaps it was because both myself...and the Russian student...were also working, and funded, as part of our Student Visa...I know if you are working on any sort of foreign visa, you need to return [or cross the border] and renew. I remember Sauli had to do that also with his visa....and I had to do that both as student and as teacher...both times I could only work for the sponsoring institution and had 2 weeks to leave the country once that job or status was ended. It is not easy nor cheap to get a permanent Visa. People emigrating from poor countries have likely got no real chance to move here as things are....I looked into it and the cost was around 15 grand years ago, to hire a lawyer who could make it reasonably possible for you to get the Visa in your own name. I was on an H1B1 and the U did all the work when I went back to teach.
Oliver will most likely get a F1 visa. According to the information for German students, it’s usually valid for 5 years. BUT it’s tied to your studies, so if you finish before that or don’t study fulltime, the VISA will run out within 30 or 60 days (depends on how long you‘ve already been in the US).

It looks like the next year, or more, will be very interesting for Adam. Oliver will be close by for quite a while (probably living with him?) and Adam is working on a variety of other projects that seem to be focused in the US. I know that QAL will tour next year, hopefully. But for a while, Adam will be busy with other things. Hope he as time to work on new music and keep himself busy in the media with everything he is doing.

My new daughter-in-law is here on a student visa, working on her doctorate degree. She is working both as a teaching assistant for her degree-granting university and for another university within the state system. She hasn't been back to Canada for some years now, and anyway the border is still closed. She is now working with an immigration attorney to resolve residency and eventually dual citizenship.

I hope Adam will have some new music ready to go when the Cover Bands show is broadcast in the US. A lot of judges time their releases for the maximum amount of exposure. I'm still sorry that "Feel Something" did not take advantage of that window. He had not released new music in a long, long time and the press and fans were so excited about the song and his return. Then he said it was only a teaser and not a radio single or for promotion. With the Oscar broadcast and TSMGO documentary, there was so much media interest and attention on him but there was nothing on the radio for him. By the time NE came out a lot of that momentum had passed. I know he loved the song because it gave him talking points for interviews. But he soon dropped that talking point because the media and general public won't care about non-celebrity or non-famous boyfriends/girlfriends for long. Some fans will but not the general public. But there are so many exciting opportunities going on for him now that I'm sure he and his team will take full advantage. I'm very encouraged.

It seems like Adam's career overall has included many, many missed opportunities, at least from a fan's view. Some of the decisions are real head-scratchers. It makes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes, and who's pulling the strings.
