Thank you so much for this. ITA. You saved me the trouble of writing something very much along these lines. I desperately wanted something monumental. After hearing him sing TSMGO, I wanted something he would always be remembered for - iconic and lasting. But that is not what is going to happen until, as you say, he becomes accepted. The song is catchy and stays in my head but there are people I definitely cannot play it for and say "you see, this is what I mean - he is going to be the most influential artist of his time". First of all, it is not fair to compare LIVE ADAM to audio, studio Adam. When he performs BTIKM LIVE it will be different. I was not a fan of WWFM until I heard/saw it LIVE. But many non-fans really liked WWFM and bought it -- after hearing it on the radio. It was a "crowd-pleasing" track. IMO BTIKM > WWFM. Monumental does not often end up on pop radio. The nice thing about Adam, is that he can do a monumental performance, he can put our complex beautifully crafted music (Broken Open), AND he can put out a pop hit (WWFM). Queen music was designed for stadium performances, not radio. BTIKY was designed for pop radio. Two very different things. Adam (and no other artist) is going to fundamentally change what radio audiences want and what make a pop hit. And a fan who thinks he is, is setting themselves up for disappointment. Granted there are a few great songs that standout.... #1 on 12/17/2009 -- "Empire State of Mind" Jay-Z + Alicia Keys #1 on 12/17/1987 -- "Faith" George Michael But the #1 song today is "We Found Love" Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris. And none of the #1 pop hits for the past 50 years is monumental. Check them out here: www.joshhosler.biz/NumberOneInHistory/12/1217.htmFinally, even in the rock era, which is well past us, Queen's first US hit was a pop song, "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" 1979. Their monumental rock operatic song, "Bohemian Rhapsody" topped out at #9. I am very pragmatic -- I want a great album -- but I also want Adam to have a pop hit so he can get more fans and sell a ton of albums and have a big tour. I have learned that great music rarely becomes pop hits. No, BTIKM is not monumental BUT it will get played on the radio AND it does sound like Adam Lambert AND it is getting mostly positive response from NON-FANS who are in the right demo. Finally, this is just the first of probably 18 tracks we will get from this album. I am confident that every Adam fan will have a few songs to love.

Does anyone know if the video has been done for BYIKM yet? It must be right if VH1 is getting ready to play it. ??? If it was done, it was shot in super-ultra-mega TOP, TOP SEKRIT. Which, with the way Adam has been with this stuff, probably means yeah, he has. But I kind of doubt it. Seems like they like to get a little pre-publicity for video shoots with BTS and still shots released from the set, etc. Not even a whisper of that has happened. And just want to say, ITA with the assessments of BTIKM as the lead single. It was a very smart, strategic move. He needs to punch through a very capricious, yet solid barrier and being an international artist, that makes it all the more difficult for him, because not every song is going to have the same appeal in every country. There were two major walls up for him during the FYE era – one of the biggest U.S. CHR stations and the UK market. If this is the song that will pave his way with those and get him in to that inner circle – it will be done. He has the star power, charisma, performance ability, interview skills to do all the rest. One major CHR hit, and his path will be paved. The other singles shouldn't be nearly as difficult and if it's like how the pattern has been with MOST artists I've experienced on CHR, once they're broken through, their next singles are fast-tracked to heavy rotation regardless of the quality or fit with the format (this isn't 100% of the time, but A LOT of the time that I've observed on my station, especially if the artist is already a "name"). Video is not shot yet. SusieFierce -- Happy Birthday. And I agree with you BTIKM is a smart, strategic choice as the lead single. And the second part of the strategy is that we could get "Trespassing" before the album is released. So they will have a mid-tempo ballad and a dance-pop track out BEFORE he releases the album.

The first thing I noticed about the "body guard looking" guy with Adam was, "Chinos! " The board moves so fast these days that by the time I read everything, whatever I wanted to say has already been written. But I find it hilarious that my first thought about the bodyguard was exactly same as NoS*&@^#r's!

Thank you!! I would LOVE that and ZOMG!! if they released "Trespassing" as a second single around the time the album is released and if it is a dancey, pulse-driven uptempo ala "Another One Bites the Dust" that would be PERFECT!! GAAAAHHHH!!! ETA: Also, having the song do double-duty for name recognition with the album
