Adam must feel a kinship with that peacock. He loves those same colors and he has clothes with similar patterns. And he loves to strut in those clothes in a gorgeous way. I guess I'm just one of those females watching in the background. LOL

I guess I'm just one of those females watching in the background. LOL It makes such perfect sense that Adam played Margaret Mead in "Hair", just because he got to sing "My Conviction". The lyrics fit him like a glove! "I would just like to say that it is my conviction that longer hair and other flamboyant affectations of appearance are nothing more than the male's emergence from his drab camouflage into the gaudy plumage which is the birthright of his sex. There is a peculiar notion that elegant plumage and fine feathers are not proper for the male. When actually that is the way things are in most species." Words to live by for Adam!

I love hearing Adam sing those lyrics. They are perfect for him. I'm so glad we at least have the audio of him singing that song. I wish we had a video! I have seen several professional productions of Hair, both before and after Adam. When I saw the ones i attended after hearing Adam in the role, I always thought of him.

There are peacocks in a big park near us. They are free to roam and sometimes head out into nearby neighbourhoods. We recently had a peahen walk up our front steps and stare at us through the glass door. It looked like it was puzzled that we weren't letting her in. The male peacocks are gorgeous. I love looking at them. The males strut their stuff, raise and shimmer their big tail feathers, but they also have shorter brown tail feathers that they shake to make a noise. The peahens just keeping pecking in the dirt and feign indifference. Eventually the females must be impressed, because they produce very cute chicks!

The peahens just keeping pecking in the dirt and feign indifference. Eventually the females must be impressed, because they produce very cute chicks! There are wild peacocks on the island and when I first was here, I helped a neighbor tend to a small group of young males. She used to feed them twice a day and when she and her husband had to be away, I was called on to spread the seed on her deck for the boys. The raccoons also got to know the timing and would shimmy up a deck pole to wait till the boys were finished eating. When my daughter came to visit one time, she came with me to feed them and one boy decided she looked hen-like crouched in front of him with her camera so gave her quite the show...much as this one does in the vid. She was over the moon.
Many neighbours were not impressed though as their poop is quite disgusting....huge piles and really sticky and greasy....icky. The are really noisy when in the mating mood...imagine loud raucous crows with a sliding p in front of the caw....p-caw, p-caw...likely where they got their names originally! They p-caw as they fly from tree top to tree top. They love to stand and preen in their reflection of sliding glass doors...leaving their messy calling cards while they are at it!! The boys used to visit me as well, when I lived in their area. I have no idea if they are still around...that neighbour moved away several years ago now.
