Hey guys, call me nuts, but when I look at the Adam in the Shanghai airport vid, I think of Marilyn Monroe: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc8YKki7y-AIs that just me? I mean the air about him, obviously not gender or anything physical, it's something he gives to the camera, and to those around him. I sort of like the airport stuff, because on the crazed fan-o-meter, hells no, I'm not going to the airport to even greet my own family. But it's nice to see the dedication. Felt he should get some privacy in Finland, oh well, he was very polite. Randomly, I love the autograph vids because he looks so delicate and fragile in them - it's like a 180 of his on-stage persona, when he often (at least to me) looks kind of pissed, and fierce and fiddling with his in-ear monitor. eta: Dag, I still don't know how to quote.
eta2: I'm going to be relaxed about expectations for the single and Trespassing. It's just song by song, and I think this is so much a better "first" single than FYE. And remember when TFM was released? That was frustrating it getting reviews and comments and itunes numbers and zero radio. So as long as Adam gets played on the radio internationally with BTIKM, RCA is working it imo.

This is something very different but it is F'ing brilliant!! RCA is using the internet to generate buzz and martial requests for BTIKM.
They know fans will deliver.
And they have until 1.30.12 when they go for adds so plenty of time to gets adds -- 3 weeks of adds in January BEFORE the add date.
We'll see what else will happen but they must have something up their sleeves.

Adam will do more traditional radio promo interviews after the holidays.
But it is DELIGHTFUL to see RCA doing so much work instead of Adam having to push boulders up the mountain seemingly by himself.

I know nothing about this 'industry' at all.
For me, it has nothing to do with churning out a hit; manufacturing something to sell. This music is ALIVE.
Everybody, we have to be sure of this.
This song is GOOD!! This song is A HIT!!
It just is. I keep listening, and every time it ends, I think, . . . already over??
And then I play it again, and again.
I feel like it wants to tell me more.
And it reminds me of many things . . . not just romance . . . but the stuff that has settled in the cracks and lives tucked away.
And THE VOICE knows it. Knows us.
Maybe RCA wants to find out more about us. Probably not; but just maybe they are wondering a bit about our knowledgeable passion; which they may see as unusual. I don't know if it is . . . after all, this is the only time I've ever done this; felt this. Even my passion has become familiar. This love has been with me almost three years, now. It's settled in; part of the 'forever me'. A knowing passion. Better than I know myself . . .

Just wanna say - the New Year is going to be great in Adamland. The single, the album, a tour, all the talk shows, morning shows, probably on Idol, more with Queen, and who knows what else. Adam so deserves it all, and so do we! He has gone from a little studio and chorus jobs, to a global superstar with a lovely family, house, clothes and a great relationship. All in 4 years. And, best of all, he is still the same Adam who started with "Mama"!

IMO, it's the charisma, the presence, the attentiveness, the engagement with others and with the world which gives the sense of a similarity between them. It is, if you will, the 'IT' factor. He's so got it. Re: the airport vid, the only thing I will say is that when he was asked 'how was the flight?' and he said 'Greeeaaaat...", that was about the most un-genuine and unenthusiastic I've ever heard him sound, lol. Sounded like it was said with gritted teeth and a forced smile. Kind of funny, and TOTALLY understandable. You're right that he does look delicate in most of the autograph photos. And lol at your impression of his onstage persona. That's definitely PART of it, haha. Now attempting to leave, again. : |

That was kind of my thought too, in that dropping now with no promo to speak of gives them a really good look at the hardcore super invested fanbase and at the same time get a look at how interested media outlets are by seeing the media response. If it also gets media outlets coming to them that puts them in a better position than if they are having to cold call PR. It would seem to me that it is always better to have the PR opportunities coming to you rather than having to push to them. Creates a climate of having them competing for your promo rather than you having to go begging for coverage. Both of these comments make it sound like RCA is using Adam's promo for his 2nd album as an experiment and I just do not even want to think about that. :-/ I hope that everything is well planned out and we just don't know about it yet. MyS*&@^#r, not saying this is all they are going to do by any means, but I do think times they are achangin', and Adam has an invested fan base of buyers, so...but what do I know? Nuthin'. Just speculating as those of us on this board are inclined to do from time to time. ;D |
