OT sortaMy shiny new laptop with wonderful speakers that I purchased 3 weeks ago died yesterday morning. It simply will not turn back on. I'm returning it to the manufacturer, after spending a day in denial. I wanted so much to hear my brand new BTIKM download on that computer. It's killing me to have to listen to it on my old computer with the crappy speakers. I didn't even know how bad the sound was until I got the new computer. Oh no!! I'm so sorry!! That is heartbreaking when you get something brand new like that and it just ... dies on you. I hope they rectify it and get you a new computer immediately. I don't know what they'll do with it. I've had 3 laptop failures, but this is the first one I could't even get to boot up. Costco, as usual, has been wonderful. They run interference with the manufacturer and stay on the phone line until the whole matter has been dealt with. Everything will be fine, I know Costco will work with me until I'm satisfied.

Well, the guy can sing. Really. Well, yeah. BUT.... for the insomniac still up and chatting on a dead thread, listen to the two side by side, one verse or chorus at a time. Ignore the backing instrumentals and just listen/feel the vocals. The tone, not the pitch. Do you hear a difference? How would you describe it? Same key, same type of delivery, same tempo, same pitches, but different voice quality. I am curious what others hear between the two, and which sounds/feels more pleasing.

I had to listen with my eyes closed 'cause I found the facial expressions and out-of-sync voice to be too distracting. The voice isn't bad but it didn't connect with me. It sounds to me like he is trying to copy the levels of intensity, but misses the emotion ... the first few words sound like he is trying to copy pronunciation rather than express emotion ... and at about :39 and 1:45 - "if I had wanted to leave ...." he sounds almost angry instead of pleading/repentant. I also found the changes in mood and volume to be too abrupt ... in Adam's version they seem to be a natural progression of the emotion. Just my 2¢.

Interesting that he tried to copy the duet portions as well. Better in the last chorus than in the bridge on that. Doesn't have the breath control AL has. At least twice at the same spot of the chorus he loses all support and he can do that background run in the last chorus with much clarion. For me Adam's voice slices thru other sounds like it has a distinct frequency, what I call his clarion quality. But it's not strident. This guy sounds a bit like a buzzer while Adam's is more like a bell.

I thought it was a lower key. Interesting that you say it is the same. The guy did a great job, IMO. But he's not Adam. I do like the concept, for a video, of him singing alone at his home. I think something this simple would be a beautiful idea for Adam's video.
