The American pop star Adam Lambert arrived yesterday in Finland for a surprise visit.

The atmosphere at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport was excited on Monday afternoon. The rumor about the American pop star Adam Lambert’s possible arrival to Finland had reached also the local fans, since there were about a dozen eager fans waiting for their idol at the arrival hall.

A little after three in the afternoon, Lambert, who was wearing a gray beanie, black clothes and big round sunglasses, stepped into the hall with a relaxed smile. He stopped in no hurry to talk with his fans and posed for their cameras.

A little boy, who had come to the airport with his mother, gave Lambert a box of chocolates and wished him welcome to Finland.
Lambert was genuinely surprised by the unexpected welcoming committee at the airport.

- Hi guys, how are you? Wow, this is a really big surprise! the pop star exclaimed in a good mood after seeing the fans.

Lambert flew to Finland straight from Shanghai. He arrived alone with two big suitcases. Boyfriend Sauli Koskinen was not at the airport to meet his love.

Lambert told IS that he came to Finland to meet people.

- I came to visit, to meet many people, a smiling Lambert said.
More than that he wasn’t willing to answer to the reporters’ questions.

- Now is not a time for an interview, Lambert pointed out and laughed.

Except for the black sunglasses, nothing in Lambert’s being or his behavior spoke of him being an international megastar. He smiled at the cameras, waved at his fans and stepped out with all the other passengers totally peacefully and calmly.

- It’s great to be here! he shouted still before hopping into a cab, escorted by fan girls’s screams.

Lambert wouldn’t tell how long he is going to stay in Finland, but at least his boyfriend Sauli Koskinen has told that he will spend the whole Christmas here with his family. Koskinen arrived in Finland from Los Angeles already last week.

In the IS-Tutka that was published yesterday on IS website, Sauli told that he was depressed because there is no snow in Finland and he was hoping for snow cannons to Helsinki.

- I’ve missed people, I was nervous while coming here and I had butterflies in my stomach when I left. I intend to have a blast, meet my friends and spend a peaceful Christmas with my family. It’s going to be a very traditional Christmas.

For his possible American guests Sauli would like [to show] the Christmassy Helsinki and street views from the city.

- I would show all kinds of places, but this weather is now so gloomy. It makes me a bit angry, but compared to LA, Helsinki is really a much better looking city, Sauli says in IS-Tutka.

THE ADAM LAMBERT pitch machine is on full blast!
His label, RCA, is working radio with BETTER THAN I KNOW MYSELF, and they're hyping even more about the new CD, too! Take a look at the list of super talent and producers Lambert's been working with, above!

The label is impacting his song 1/30.

The feeling the label has is that since BTIKM is a mid-tempo song, it will cut through the clutter of overproduced club banging uptempo wall-of-sound music which currently dominates the pop landscape. Additionally, the label is working the song to POP and ADULT POP formats, meaning they're going for airplay on stations which target people - specifically females - ages 12 to 54.

The message: Adam Lambert is mainstream. And if this project does what it looks like it could do, it could have the same impact on pop that Lady Gaga has had.

Tall order, but entirely possible. Especially if the music is amazing.

Adam Lambert is back folks … but not in the way you might think. The first single from the glambot’s upcoming sophomore Lp Trespassing (Out March 20), ‘Better Than I Know Myself’ has landed, and let me just say, if you were expecting some radio-friendly club trash, you’re about to be disappointed. If you were hoping for something a little deeper than the shallow radio sludge of the moment from the singer though, YOU are about to be blown away. Okay, maybe ‘Blown Away’ is a bit too big of a statement, but considering the singles that filled Lambert’s 2009 debut, it accurately describes my lifted and inspired mood after hearing this particular track.

Lambert has returned with a perfect piece of pop music. A power ballad that soars in the right places, and hits low in some others, with a flawless bridge and some lyrical depth to spice up the flavor. As some of you may have heard, this Dr. Luke produced single was actually written over two years ago, the demo having made it’s way online earlier this month, and it’s clear to see why no one took the song. I’ll be honest, it’s dated. It’s not heavy on dance beats, steeped in sexuality, or shallow enough to come from one of the pop-tarts that rules the radio charts right now. In addition, the chorus is far too big for most of those female vocalists as well. Enter Adam. How dated this song is doesn’t seem to matter anymore, because Lambert managed to turn this dud of a demo, into a masterpiece.

What really makes ‘Better Than I Know Myself’ a perfect single though, is the depth. This isn’t your typical pop ballad about you did this, you ruined us. Instead, it’s Adam’s confession of sorts. The lyrics come from his own standpoint of being a bad boyfriend, or the reason for the failed relationship. In addition, Adam reels in the emotion on the chorus in an almost desperate cry for this love to return. That’s another reason this song reminds me of ‘Sleepwalker’ so much. It’s a connection through which we as fans can draw closer to Lambert, on a more real level. An honest level, so to speak.

I’ll be honest and say that i’m not sure this song will be the hit that it should be, because like I mentioned before, it lacks the trashy club feel that we all seem to love so much as consumers these days, and on the other hand, it doesn’t quite have the emotional range to be on the ballad level of singers like Adele or Florence Welch, who seemed to rule the airwaves in 2011. Although, that being said, i’ll go a step further and say this …. If Bruno Mars can go top 10 with a song like ‘It Will Rain’, I think ‘Better Than I know Myself’ should be able to do the same. The only snag will be whether American listeners can tune out their own ignorant views of Adam, and focus on the magic of this single.

New Song: Adam Lambert, 'Better Than I Know Myself'

Not sure if we're buying all that bad-mouthing, but we're all in for the high-drama synth, crunchy beats and soaring vocals that make "Better Than I Know Myself" one of Adam's biggest, boldest and most beautiful tracks to date.

The first offering from Trespassing (the follow-up to 2009's For Your Entertainment), "Better Than I Know Myself" is a mid-tempo power ballad that gives us a gorgeous taste of that "existential pop" sound Adam mentioned in a recent interview (from the song's heart-slugging chorus: "I know it gets hard sometimes, but I could never leave your side... I really need you near me to keep my mind off the edge"). Tender yet intense, "Better Than I Know Myself" bumps up our Trespassing expectations that much higher -- and leaves us thankful that Adam's always brave enough to wear his heart on his sleeve, even when he's feeling all angsty and blue.

Hey -- Jay Reeve (I think he's from a New Zealand station) gave me a shout out. I had written him after he played BTIKM -- thanked him for that and then said his mixes were good but I was having a hard time picking up on his accent. I think he was happy that someone was streaming him from Nashville. Anyways, I got a kick out of it. I tried to contact everyone each time I heard BTIKM to thank them for playing the song. I don't know if it helps, but it's worth a try. Will be making my many purchases later on during the day.
