It feels terribly annoying that the media in USA refers to Sauli as *a beau* .. as if he had no value at all but is just a playmate for Adam. Why do they underestimate Adam's inteligence so much? .. Is Adam considered some kind of a stupid person in USA??..To live with a beau???.. crap!! ok.. in Europe it means a boy toy:))) Awwww..... I love the word "beau"! To me its one of those sweetly old-fashioned, repectable terms used to describe an obvious significant other even if one isn't [yet] engaged or married. I always think of Laura Ingalls and Alanzo Wilder from the Little House on the Prairie books when I hear it. [grin] Or sometimes the Vanderbilts. I think its one of the nicest terms that could be used to describe each of them, as IMO "beau" has a more serious connotation than the sometime shlocky "boyfriend". More like "novio" in Spanish. Kinda disappointed it doesn't hold the same meaning in other parts of the world. :-/

Thanks Linda So many things can be understood in a different way.. as here in Europe *a beau* is a prostitute.. Well, it's not same for everybody in Europe though. At least for me beau has always meant just boyfriend, nothing else. I have to agree with Zinnia. I have never heard the word used in the context you mention, dingit.

My thought about the word is very same as yours .

Well see thats the problem. You and I see it as two guys "communicating" with each other and others (mostly in the media) immediately see it as domestic violence, where one of them is the abuser and the other the victim. In terms of the media, I'm thankful we are going into the holiday. For me, the difference is that these two guys are in a relationship together. Regardless of what kind of physical contact there was, it seems what is certain is that they were both upset. I'd feel bad about that even if it was just a verbal thing, and the fact that it got physical in some way is unfortunate, at the very least. I see a distinct difference in guys (friends/relatives/whatever) rough-housing or mock-wrestling or even getting into a minor physical altercation, and 2 guys in a relationship whose disagreement devolves into the physical. And for the record, I'm definitely not casting either one of them as the "aggessor" or "victim," since we have no idea how it went down. Good point as always!

JUST DON'T! ETA: ohh.. I forgot, in the rock/metal world the singer doesn't need to sing with the correct pitch... Um..... Yeah. NIGHTLIFE covers WHAM. I'd rather have seen Adam Lambert and QUEEN write something new for the holiday. But that's just me. If you watched and feel like you just wasted four minutes of your life, I'm sorry. But, I did want to share because I thought it was funny!
