#1. Adam's performance WAS a bit "pitchy" in places. I ain't gonna lie. I could debate whether he was going for the Eb which didn't fit the key of the song and which he overshot, or whether he was going for the E, which does fit the song but ended up being a little flat. We could do a debate note for note, but in principle, I have to agree that Adam was not pitch perfect in the medley. Particularly on some of the improvised riffs It's funny. The first time I listened to the EMA performance, I noticed the "pitchiness" (sp?). Now that I've listened to it a million times, I no longer hear it...in fact, after reading your post I had to go back and listen again to listen for it. Guess the EPIC nature of it overall just overshadows any technical flaws. #epicperformance I heard the pitchiness as well, and at first thought the vibrato was accentuated by nervousness, so I had a few moments of panic for him ... but then as the performance progressed and the crowd responded positively, I relaxed and enjoyed the rest of the performance. Now, when I re-listen, my ears gloss over the pitchiness and it is all good ... :D |

With all my heart, I want EW to choke on that C+ when BTIKM becomes a huge hit. I'm ticked at them for bringing up the arrest again, too. No charges were filed and A & S are back in the States--is it really still news?

I was kind of surprised until I considered the source (Kyle Anderson) and looked at the other music HE reviewed in that piece. This is the song he mentioned from Common's CD (which he gave A-). I like this song (mostly because I have a fondness for the old Mr. Blue Skies)--but it's so different from Adam's song, genre-wise...and when you look at the other song he (Anderson) rated higher, it's obvious that Adam doesn't exactly fit into what the reviewer likes best musically. There just isn't any such thing as objectivity in music appreciation. (Except for maybe technical aspects.) So, to each his own. I love BTIKM, and hope it hits the Top10 at the very least! ETA: I WONDER WHAT GRADE MELISSA M. (OTHER REVIEWER) WOULD'VE GIVEN BTIKM?? ;D |
