Welcome to all new members and posters! What a great time to delurk! After reading the last couple of pages I am adding to my list of New Year resolutions: find Glasskam's phone number (as I know I have it somewhere) and call her and get together for coffee. I was planning to do that since past August and get her BM experience (she did go this year) and I never did. NOW IT IS ON MY LIST! well.... 2 hours until 2012!  |

We had a scare at church service tonight. This seemingly nice gentleman with her young granddaughter sat right in front of me, my DH and DS. After the homily, he started screaming at the top of his voice and just went on and on. I was scared and all I could think of was, "What if he has a gun? We will be the first targets!" Thank God, the ushers got him out with no incident. Just made me extra mindful of how precious your loved ones are. So with that, my prayer is this: May you all be blessed with love, peace and happiness today and always. Happy New Year! 2012 indeed will be nuts - need to start planning the next listening party! ;D Yes, the regulars will have their rooms reserved. Need to coordinate with Smokey and Cassie. Bama, glad you have your windows and not have to worry about those pesky squirrels. Manigong Bagong Taon !!!! |

Welcome. Hope that you find compatible, companionable folks here at ATop. I have to brag a little bit. I think I can count on one hand the number of times I could apply the word "discord" to any of the interactions here at ATop. On those very rare occasions there is always a mod or two handy to diffuse it or shut it down. Q3 has created a marvelous home here with a culture of fun, support, caring, and respect for diversity that reflects the character of the man we all love. Mind you, you will find times when the discussions get "lively" or "impassioned", and other times when the topic makes some go "EWWWWWW" (squicky mouthfuls of something obnoxious comes to mind). Times when you will pour over every post, and times when you will scroll thru pages that hold no interest for you. Adamtopia is not tame or vanilla, but is consistently addictive and fun, thanks to the collective minds and hearts and libidos of all our members. Thanks so much, Cassie, and anyone else who posted an individual welcome. I already feel like this is a good place to be. I had started lurking when the discord started, then this morning I registered here, but decided to make my first post when another member at the current site was unhappy when I mentioned that I had seen negative comments about Adam's makeup on MJ's and elsewhere. I guess they were a big MJ's fan and didn't like me singling that site out negatively (even though I said "and elsewhere"). I am hoping that this rule really holds true. "4. Never question anyone's right to post, the appropriateness of a topic or define the proper way for an Adam fan or Adamtopia Member to behave. Let the moderators do their job." I do have to ask, are there any no-nos that I should know about ahead of time? I've have gotten in trouble on the other site (by other members not mods) for posting on controversial subjects such as the GB and BFM. Again, thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I think I'm going to be happy here.  BTW, I am from the SF Bay Area. I cannot even express the joy I feel for Adam & Sauli!!! Adam is such a romantic!! And, to share with all of us just blows me away!!! I'm so frickin' happy that Adam & Sauli are happy.......I. JUST. CAN'T. Just WOWWWWW!!! I don't angst, I really don't worry about Adams sales, etc. But, I do want him to be happy. Why I feel like I do??? HellifIknow??? LMAO!!!! I feel very secure in the knowledge that everyone here understands what I'm saying. And, I have no one in my RL that really does. So, I've given up on that, for now. Time will tell, and then, they will all know what I'm talking 'bout!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!! Ok, gone from tears to crazy laughter!!! I truly am crazy!!! I beg your forbearance, but it's time for a rant.
Ah, critics. In this internet age anyone can hang out a shingle, write a blog and expound on any subject and be as lacking in insight as they are long winded. Rare is the perceptive intellect that, backed with an encyclopedic knowledge of the chosen subject, can deftly dissect, analyze and critique, thus opening up provocative new avenues of discussion or the revelatory "Ah hah!" moment.
Adam, as we all know, is quite rare and unusual. His art references and pays homage to the historic greats. But he doesn't merely channel them; he builds on that foundation to create a totally new expression.
Add to that his gift for spanning genres and you have something so different and unexpected, that even critics, whom we expect to welcome innovation, behave in reactionary ways. Critics, and I use the term very loosely, are human and they bring their tastes, agendas and prejudices with them. The truly intellectually underaerobicized among them react negatively when someone like Adam doesn't fit into their tidy compartments or challenges their parochial world view. These charlatans should be lobotomized and confined to sanatoriums where they can do no harm.
