Adam has had a nice surge on pre-orders on Amazon for 24 hrs. It was as high as 128 position and is now down mostly due to the surge of orders for Etta James. As of 9 o'clock his position has dropped in the 200's but the arrow is still pointing up. So slowly but surely, he is selling. Maybe not a lot, but a sale is a sale. I hope his opening 3's are just as large as FYE

Are you Numbers gurus expecting a lot of adds Monday (HAC) & Tues (CHR)? I'm feeling a bit nervous.
Regarding his leaps from Leno & Ellen - if he had a live TV performance every few days he wouldn't need radio at all. LOL

Thanks, stardust! Looking good. I checked who is all around him, on Saga's page and it looks like he has a good chance of moving up 2 spots by the beginning of next week. There is one song right on his tail, but the others are quite a ways back by 20 or more spins! I sure hope he gets some big adds on his add dates. Jazzrocks, to answer your question, "Yes" I am expecting some good adds this week. But a big BUT, if they don't come I am not in angst mode for another week.

I refuse to try to predict what radio will do but I think that Adam has positioned himself in such a way that US radio (while still important) is not the be all and end all. They seem to be concentrating heavily on the UK this round which is good and for the US it almost feels to me like they are getting radio to come to him is some ways. It seems as if the radio stations have had to compete to get interviews or at the very least lobby for them. From Toby Knapps comments about holding out for a face to face it seems like they offered only phoners at first and stations that wanted in person interviews had to lobby for them. The ones he's done face to face with so far have shown themselves to be practically berts themselves. Toby sure seems to be working on being a bert and talked about earning that relationship that gets him better access.
I notice that TV shows came before any radio face to face gigs and they have the video set to come out soon. They know the video will get a big response and historically his vids have boosted sales so I think the big push will coincide with the video release the way they did with IIHY. Other than the tour stop interviews there was no big radio push for IIHY until the video came out. I have always felt that they have positioned Adam as an artist that is to be courted rather than one who has to fight for interviews. I believe this is one way the continued media interest works in his favor as there is much competition for his time and attention rather than his people having to go out looking for interview opportunities. This puts him in a much stronger position. I think they chose BTIKM because it is the easiest sell to radio because of its being in the same vein as WWFM. I'm not saying they won't have to push but the push can be more strategic in nature as there can't be a lot of resistance from those who were on board for WWFM.
From various comments here and there I have always had the impression that RCA understood very well from the beginning that radio would not and could not be Adam's main area of attack. I think they banked heavily on the evidence from Idol that he had very strong visual appeal and therefore they concentrated more on getting VH1 and MTV solidly behind him as well as other TV outlets. The reason the AMA's was so potentially damaging to the FYE era was that it did through his TV appearance plan of attack into doubt and did probably take some important game pieces of the board.
From some of the comments RCAEd made what I read between the lines was the perhaps they actually had to convince Adam that radio was worth putting in the effort. Adam himself was under no illusions that radio would be easy for him.

Thanks rihannsu! I like your thoughts on this and I hope you are right. My thoughts are that he may struggle a little at first, then move up the charts quickly. I hope I'm right!

I have also noticed that his face to face visits have been with stations that are already playing the song. I think not visiting KIIS, in person or giving them an exclusive, is telling and interesting!

I think not visiting KIIS, in person or giving them an exclusive, is telling and interesting! With KIIS, who knows, but I too find it curious that he seems to be visiting several stations that seem to already be on board. It's good for cementing a relationship but not necessarily broadening reach? Or am I missing something. Or maybe he's just starting with a few of these stations as a reward and to have softball interviews under his belt at first - kind of a warm up? Just pondering aloud. Are both of the big Canadian stations he gave interviews already spinning BTIKM a lot?
