Tigerlily, I was speaking of regulars at MJ's and bullsfan described it perfectly. Pom, Daughtry has not had the crap spun out of his single. He is truly struggling. And Kelly's first single did not move quickly at all. He did though. Go over to Pulse and read his song's page. As at the time it was released to iTunes, the AI was also almost at 10m just like Kelly's. Radio started spinning his song the moment he gave hints about its release and got more than half of the panel to add it before the Adds date or so. Don't remember all the specifics, but I am sure I am very close. His problem was unlike Kelly, his song failed to chart high on iTunes despite the initial radio support and pretty fell off iTunes 100 while Kelly howered in the 50s. I think that went on to impact how much further support the song would get and also why CHR was relunctant to spin him more. And he got CHR support as the song has been in the TOP 50 songs on CHR forever. Kelly's single did move quickly on HAC as they kept spinning her. It was the support coming from CHR that later slowed down after the initial gigantic updates they gave her because of the song sales. If you have some time on your hands, go to Pulse and read about these songs progress.

I don't think Daughtry's single has done well this era at all. It gets next to no airplay on The Mix in Chicago which is spinning Kelly like crazy and normally loves Daughtry. And, imo, the song flopped on CHR.

I don't care what Kelly or Daughtry are doing or have done. I refuse to worry about something I have no control over. I believe that Adam will do well, one way or another. The universe is looking out for him!

HAC and especially CHR refused to give it further support unlike Kelly's because the song failed to sell on iTunes is what I am sayin.. So the problem was with the song and not radio. It was charting on CHR, they just cut back the spins because the song was underperforming with sales. Not that Kelly's too was selling fantastic, but it remaind top 100 iTunes, while Daughtry pretty much fell off.

Thanks, pom, but no more boards for me! I would say that Daughtry's 5 milion first album helped with album 2 and 3s reception. I don't think that is going to happen for his next album.

It has been on the top of the HAC charts for months. The problem is CHR never warmed up to the song.

The universe is looking out for him! I believe Adam would do well too afterall that is why we are here stanning him and watching his spins. My write up has more to do with the unfairness of US radio i.e. why some artists have to work for every 1 spin and for others it is a given no matter how crappy (sp) the song is.

I refuse to angst just yet, but you might see some major angsting on my part tomorrow night after all the adds for add week are in. For now, I just don't think we have enough information.
At this point, TBH, I am not expecting 20 adds/day today and tomorrow, but it would be nice to see a big market adding, especially someone like Z100. This would signal the way for other smaller stations. Dunno, have to wait and see what happens. This is a good song so I will be disappointed if it doesn't do well, ngl.

Well, Z100 added WWFM right away, so we know it can be done....but, honestly, I am not expecting that either, not yet. It is RCA's job to work behind the scenes and work the deals. And I think Adam's success is important to them (I think they see him as someone with enormous potential) So, I won't worry yet. But the next 2-3 weeks are important. And I don't want anything to put a damper on the album release.
