From seeing all of the tweets from radio people like Toby Knapp, I thought RCA had this handled. There seemed to be a buzz, or I thought there was. I wasn't expecting much up until adds week but....I was expecting more than what he has received today. And they're all in markets #111 and below.
As far as Bruno Mars, one thing I will say about him. Before his first album even came out, he was traveling from one radio station to the next across the country, with his guitar, and doing small shows. That went a long way with radio, that he put that effort into it and it has payed off with tons of airplay. I've never understood why they haven't done that with Adam. As much as I love Lyndsey and Laura Saltman, they can't help Adam with airplay. I just thought more time would have been focused on radio.

Well, it is the job of the label to pick the right lead-off song, which , for Adam, simply means one that radio will add and play. I have to think, especially after FYE, that RCA got some assurances from key PDs before releasing BTIKM. So, I am keeping the faith. And it just isn't the type of song that is going to run up the charts. It is a mid-tempo HAC song, and certainly RCA has HAC-type expectations. I will admit right now that I am something of a "realist" when it comes to US radio accepting Adam. And I also think, apart from Adam just liking the "real" vibe and being "over" the glitter, that he and his management team are deliberately toning down his image and trying for something more mainstream in an effort to be taken more seriously by radio, and, thus, be better accepted. But after all that work, I was expecting a little better adds date. And I thought Clear Channel was on board.
All I really want for BTIKM is for it to do well enough to open the door for some of the other songs that might have more "smash" potential. Success for BTIKM will make it easier for the other songs to follow.
I hope nobody thinks I'm a downer :( I have just learned that for me, personally, it is better to keep expectations low, and then be pleasantly surprised.
One other thing, does anyone think that all the work overseas, and particularly in the UK (which has been pretty massive) is because the label has decided that it will ultimately have to take a "back door" into US success. In other words, get that international smash to force the US to wake up?

HAC is only 50% reported. Don't give up yet!

There were so many articles etc or could we have just been in our Adam bubble? It is just frustrating for me watching Kelly rack up all these adds continuously and Adam has to slowly build. Now all the idol stans are concerned trolling and secreatly rejoicing.

Kelly racks up the adds because she has a ten year history of putting out top 10 hits. Adam just isn't there yet! If you expected the same type of radio reception that Kelly Clarkson gets, you probably set yourself up to be disappointed.

Reading the reviews from the UK and especially from this JordanMeehan guy (Trespassing is gonna define music in 2012, biggest album of the year, grammy win, yadayadayada..) I think wtf is going on? If these songs are that awesome (and I do believe they are) why the mediocre response so far? Will things change after a listening party for US radio?
Maybe the problem is there was too MUCH buzz? Got us riled up & set expectations too high? IDK - just speculating. I think it will all turn out fine in the end - it's just always so damn much work. LOL
