Didn't even Cook get major HAC markets adds for his song the first week? I am asking because Cook unlike Adam has no buzz nor media interest.
Idol stans on M J are already predicting doom. I wish the song adds day and going to iTunes had impacted right about the same time as the iTunes ranking then could have gotten it more attention from the PDs maybe.

I like the back & forth, glass half-full, glass half-empty discussion here. We can't all be doom & gloom and we can't all be sunshine & lollipops. We're individuals and we're not sheep. One more little gloom for me - the PD of my Top40 station (B104, WAEB Allentown PA) has left the station to go to Detroit! He was a big supporter of Adam's & really liked BTIKM. B104 was one of the first to add BTIKM. And that was while the PD was still there. Don't worry about Adam getting played. Your new PD is coming from my station, WLAN and they like Adam here. They added BTIKM today!

Because it is Bruno Mars and he sold something in the neighborhood of 30+ million single downloads last year. If WWFM had sold 12 million and IIHY had sold 10 million, radio would probably be jumping on BTIKM. In no way do I think this song is a fail! What I do think is RCA failed to do their fucking job! The HAC adds are over for the week. I don't think we will see a better outcome with Top 40 tomorrow. I wonder why they moved the Pop adds date up? I thought it was because RCA had received positive feedback or something like that! Well yes but Bruno Mars wasn't always BRUNO MARS and he too started off with songs similar to this. Mid tempo love songs. There never was a problem with him getting air play even before he was 30 MILL DL BRUNO MARS. It is true that he sold all those million singles because the US PDs play his songs so much on the radio however whinny or boring it is. This is one of the reasons why I don't want Adam buzzing about him on his Twitter as often as he does. I think he is in a way telling the industry by so doing that Bruno is better than him or deserves all those preferential treatment from the PDs he gets. Surprisingly, all his songs have always been boring slow tempos and yet they always top the charts especially CHR.

Just for comparison I looked at the other songs that had an impact date for today. The only one that shot out the gate fast is Train. I'm really going to try to not angst. Adam had a total of 8 adds today for a total of 34 Chiddy Bang Ray Charles' Todays adds 0 Total 0 Demi Lovato Give Your Heart A Break' Todays adds 6 Total 6 Ellie Goulding Play 'Lights' Todays adds 0 Total 0 Nick Carter Burning Up' by Nick Carter Todays adds 0 Total 1 The Wanted Glad You Came Todays adds 13 Total 123 (impact today but was added by stations last fall) Train Drive By Todays adds 35 Total 149 Thanks rama-You posted some much-needed perspective. I can angst with the best of 'em, but I just don't think it's angst time yet. 8-)

Surprisingly, all his songs have always been boring slow tempos and yet they always top the charts especially CHR. They play the songs so much because listeners responded to those boring, whinny songs by shooting his songs straight up the itunes charts. Radio stations also do market research and they had to have seen that listeners were responding to Bruno's songs. One thing feeds the other. It happened with WWFM on a much smaller scale. This is what makes a song a hit. There is always room for a couple of mid-tempo songs on Pop and HAC stations. Bruno's songs, MKIA, Katy Perry's new song, Adele's songs are all examples of songs that aren't typical Pop/Dance/Rhythmic songs. If RCA can push that Gavin DeGraw song to the top 10, perhaps they have a few tricks up their sleeve? They need to have some type of plan. Adam has done his part! BTIKM is a good song with good lyrics, great production and has an amazing vocalist singing it. Now, RCA needs to get on the ball and do what they are paid to do!

There is no way a song that receives more national coverage wouldn't shoot up the charts. Didn't virtually all the stations add his songs within weeks of release just like Kelly's? I am of the view that radio uses the brainwashing technique. Play a song every hour and see if it does not stick in your head somehow even if you hate it. The only time it does not probably work that way is if the artist involved is having some high volume negative press going on + radio refusing to spin it further. Ultimately everything lies with radio. The more radio spins, the more it sticks and more sales it racks up. Even Chris Brown with his negative image and press sells big music due to radio spinning him. Study the radio charts, the moment radio reduces spins, so does the song sales start crashing down the sales rack. How would you compare WWFM that had scattered adds and was not being exposed simutaneously to all parts of the US market to be able to rack up the callbacks or sales to another song being played in all the nooks and crannies of the entire market? Isn't the game is to get radio to play to drive up both single and album sales. No artists except those that do not need radio like U2 or so sale without radio play.

pom, did you quote the right post? I don't think tigerlily was disagreeing about radio play at all. All she was that it is RCAs job to get it. And she trusts that they have a plan. ???
