Thanks Juniemoon..really interesting. I do, however, think we should be getting an 'indie cut' of the spoils, so to speak. So, if I understand, indies get double pay..kinda like lobbyists, yes? The "indies" are lobbyists. The upshot is that the system is pay for play. That means RCA has to decide Adam is worth the big bucks that are essentially laundered through the "indies" to the radio stations. To me it looks like they have decided that. "Promo" money comes out of the bottom line for Adam's record and is part of the reason recording artists like Adam actually make very little for the sale of their music. What we think of as promo -- personal appearances, endorsements, corporate sponsorships, getting Adam’s music placed in movie, TV, and commercial projects and the like -- are handled by the management company, not by the label. At least that is the way that I understand it. This is absolutely fascinating, Juniemoon! I never realized there was such a substructure involved and that is where a lot of the big bucks go for promo. I'm all ears if you want to share more. Also in no way was I trying to make light of your post by calling 'indies' lobbyists..it was the first image I saw..just like government. Excellent posts, thanks!

Thanks for the question. I have IE and I have always thought that "My Favorites" is the same thing as "Bookmarks." Is it not? ??? Yes, it is exactly the same thing. Thank You 8-)

I HAVE FIGURED OUT THE BIRTHDAYS ----- I THINK. BUT I NEED YOUR HELP.There is a calendar link at the top of the page. Each day has a link to a birthday list. The birthday associated with your Member ID is the birthday you registered with and the one on your profile. If you hide your age, your birthday will be hidden from members. (I can still see it.) I have a fix in the works.....but I want to make sure that I fix the right thing. SO IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS NOT ON THE CALENDAR, AND YOU DID NOT HIDE YOUR AGE, can you send me a PM? THANKS! LOL..US? Hide our ages?

FYI: I'm going to change my name to my twitter name, but not immediately. I want my twitter name and Atop name to be the same. So I'm going to be tatum/coconutgrove0 for a while, and then change it to coconutgrove0.

I have a great idea. I'll turn off the computer and have a few "ahem" glasses of wine. When I come back, all my bookmarks will be in their proper places 'cause I'll be hallucinating. At least I'll go to bed happy. Sugaree, I've not followed this whole thread, but gather that you are having problems with finding bookmarks in Chrome. Do you see the Bookmarks toolbar at all? If not, try Ctrl + Shift + B which should toggle the bookmark toolbar on & off according to a help page I looked at. I haven't used Chrome, but I am a computer geek with lots of experience with Internet Explorer and Firefox and very familiar with bookmarking in both of these. I've also used Safari some but find their bookmarking so different from IE & Firefox and I've just not put any time into figuring Safari out. Anyway, maybe DM me with a recap of your problem and maybe I can help.

Also in no way was I trying to make light of your post by calling 'indies' lobbyists..it was the first image I saw..just like government. Excellent posts, thanks! Oh, I know, viv! I researched this topic for my own knowledge back in September. I am by no means an expert, just a fan trying to learn. I was curious to find out why some songs get heavy radio play while others get played seldom or never. What I found out was a lot like the time I found out what liverwurst really was. Never did dig on the ‘wurst quite so much after I knew the truth. First some background. Some of you who are music history buffs or are a little bit older may know about the “payola” scandals that nearly derailed rock and roll music in its early days. Simply put, a 1960 Congressional investigation found that some of the most famous early rock deejays and hosts, including Alan Freed, Murray the K, and Dick Clark, had accepted large cash payments in order to play certain songs on their shows. The FCC put in strict laws that prohibited such practices in the future … Or did they? The article I posted earlier by George Howard, the former president of an independent label that was acquired by Warner, documents the way that a song is chosen to be played on your local radio station, and you may be surprised (or not) to learn that it isn’t by pondering what songs their listeners might like or by responding to listener requests. Those factors may get a record a spin or two at 2:30 a.m. when no one is listening, or on a special "By Request" show, but they aren’t going to push the song up into even light rotation, let alone the kind of play that characterizes a major hit. These days, the process of creating a real radio hit starts with a sales representative called an “independent promoter.” Technically a free agent, the “indie” is actually paid by the record label to represent its tunes to various radio stations. If a record label is behind a song in a big way, this individual has lots of cash to spread around. The favored radio stations get all kinds of money that they can use to buy bumper stickers, pay for promotions, and other expenses of operating and promoting their business. The more cash that changes hands, the more a song is played. Record labels may budget as much as a million dollars or more to promote a top single this way. These practices are no secret in the industry, and in spite of efforts to curb or regulate them, they continue to thrive. you may be right; my gold star is labeled "Favorites" and under that is favorites, feed and history. ETA: I've clicked on everything on my toolbar and bookmarks doesn't come up anywhere. Thanks for all the suggestions; I'll work on this some more tomorrow; gotta get some stuff done before hubby gets home. Chrome UsersDo you have the wrench on the very far right hand side? I'm new to Chrome and it took me awhile too. Click on the wrench, go to Options. In the Basic tab look in the Toolbar section. Click the box that says "always show the bookmarks bar". To add a page to the bar grab the location by it's head (ie the little logo usually to the left of http) and drop it on the bar. (or click the star on the right and select bookmark bar as the folder Too many to fit? Right click on the bar and add a folder. You can then stuff the folder with bookmarks. IE UsersFor those using IE, there are actually 2 places it shows bookmarks. It has a favorite bar folder inside the regular bookmark dropdown from the menu. Items in the bar show up if the bar is enabled and items you add to the bar (instead of to other folders in your bookmarks) will show down the right side under the ">>" marks. To get the Favorites Bar to show up Right click just to the right of the word "help" in your menu bar. Put a check mark in front of "Favorites Bar". It will give you an extra row across the top of your screen. To add a page to your favorite bar, grab the location by it's icon header and drop it on the yellow star to the very left of the bar. It will become the 1st item in the list. You can move things around a bit in the bar but it is easier to go into the favorites dropdown menu item. eta: modifying a bit for clarity

Darn. I've been listening to B104 on & off today & missed BTIKM. I was thinking "yeah so they added (auto-add) & now they don't play it." So glad to hear it was played just after 3pm which is when the PD's show is on. It's important that he likes it!
It's gonna be a struggle at first but hopefully not as much as FYE era. That BM USA Today article pisses me off. No numbers last week - sure!
