Who knew who we were at prom? I attended an all-girls high school back in 1972 and did not have a "boyfriend". Awkwardly asking a favor from mom's friends' sons. Which involved actual phone calls. At the time, it was just important to have a date.

I wasn't even allowed to date back then so I went with a classmate who asked me. My parents made him promise to bring me right home after the prom and no after parties. So what he did was take me to an after party and walk around so I could be seen for about 10 minutes then he took me home and he returned to the party, lol. But it made me feel so good to not only go to the prom but that other kids saw me at the party too. HA. Funny how important that seemed back then. Adam and his date looked lovely and absolutely thrilled.

I also went to the prom with a guy who was a "buddy." We had an ok time. Sometimes, I think the parents (esp. the mothers) want their sons and daughters to go to the prom more than kids actually do. It's kind of a rite of passage thing, I guess.
Adam and Lauren look lovely. I wonder how common it is now for same-sex couples to go to the prom? Depends on where the school is, I'm sure.

I‘m just glad, that we don’t have „proms“ here. It would have been a nightmare for me and if possible, I would have just skipped that.

I was one of those weird kids. Bit I have to say, Adam and his date look very cute.

I was talked into going to my HS prom, even though that was the last thing I wanted to do. Csquared, I was one of the "uncool" kids and was never interested in socializing at all. But my sister wanted to go, so my parents convinced me I had to go too. My sister's date had a friend that I went with, didn't know him at all, and we spent all evening ignoring each other lol. It was pure agony, at least on my part. This was way before the limos and expensive dresses, etc, thank god. I would have felt bad if my parents had spent a ton of money for me having a miserable time.
To be clear, it wasn't my "date's" fault, he was just as much of an introvert as I was, so we both retreated to our corners lol.
