In order for me to vote on that Idol poll because of my cookie settings, I had to go "Incognito" on my browser. My child still enjoys Idol so we voted the brackets for fun. [PS just noted the Alabama connection, lol. I thought it was AI not Al] Anyway, I have gone back incognito a couple of times over the last couple of days to check results which means that I must also click on a choice for results to display. It still lets me vote without indicating that my vote has already been counted. Who knows š¤·āāļø If anyone wants to try it, just click [Cntl][Shift][n] on Chrome and it takes you to Incognito mode then proceed as normal. Or you could probably delete cookies and it would work as well but so much more trouble. The great things I can learn on this forum! Thanks LindaG23 for this tip! It worked, and I was able to vote again (and yet again when I backed out completely and then went into "Incognito" mode again). My DH is a software engineer, but I never knew about this trick. Yes, I too didn't get the Alabama connection which explains Taylor's popularity. A silly poll, but as someone said "What we will do for Adam!". I also am upset about the lifting of mask mandates on public transportation. Even if I'm ridiculed, I will still wear my mask anytime I'm in a public place. I have a neighbor who is a flight attendant - will be curious to hear her opinion of this change. I do know that she was harassed many times concerning passengers having to wear masks. Her take on that - obey the rules or else!

Sorry, Oliver, I'm sure the energy was only amazing for those whiny babies who refuse to be bothered wearing a mask, everybody's safety be damned. I'm guessing it won't be long until they start harassing those that choose to continue to wear a mask. A stupid decision not based on medical reasons, but by a T judge for political reasons, brought by whiny toddlers that don't want to be told what to do, but are perfectly happy to tell everybody else what to do. I'm pissed.Ā We are so, so stupid. Just wear your mask and choose the FFP2 standard. Iāve been wearing that for 2 years now. Masks arenāt mandatory here any longer. Iām and Iāve been walking through classrooms with up to 50% students missing, because they had Covid. Sometimes we had 2 new positive tests of students in the morning, who had to be send home. So itās clear, that the virus was circulating in the classrooms I was teaching in. Still, I was forced to go on teaching as normal, because Iām vaccinated several times. Thatās what politicians are expecting anyway. And to be honest: Thereās nothing more that we can do. In Western countries, anyone, who wants is is 2-4 times vaccinated and many have had Covid on top. How long should we forced to wear these masks? If we donāt stop that now, that would mean forever. Just let people decide for themselves. After alle the vaccinations and many people having had covid, wearing masks really make no longer that much sense in many situations. So people were less and less accepting the rules anyways. About planes: They have the best air-conditions with the best air filters you can dream of. If youāre wearing your mask tightly, you should be safe, even if your neighbour doesnāt wear one. Also they usually ask for a covid test.

But Nightowl, a large portion of the world has NOT been vaccinated, so therefore we are all still in danger. And I don't know about your country (Germany, I believe?), but here in the US there is a very loud, very aggressive minority that refuses to do even the basics, including vaccinations. I have a couple in my family.
How long can we wear masks? As long as it takes and we get the rest of the world vaccinated.

I am still masking up in public places, especially indoors, as I don't want to get sick. Though I have taken the "risk" of going to select restaurants for instance, I am appalled at the lifting of mask mandates in airplanes. The virus is here to stay and I believe that the numbers are wayyy higher than officially reported. I am starting to wonder, now that the number of hospitalizations and deaths are down, if the relaxed restrictions are a way to achieve herd immunity. I am comparing notes with my sister who lives in Southern Germany (similar vaccination rates and rules as in the US). Her family of four just came back from a trip to Austria (they have strict vaccination and mask mandates there) and three of them tested positive for Covid once back. Now their oldest son may not be able to take the high school exit exam on time (Abitur). My husband is currently recovering from Covid and isolating still, and we have been very careful, but he visited family in LA the weekend before Easter ... I am still fine, but I am aware that we are dealing with a very infectious virus that fortunately is less dangerous for most. I still don't want to get sick.

I don't think the numbers are correct either, Sizzling...lots of undercounting, and some states are trying to hide their numbers. The whole mask business is political, our previous Prez made it political, and here we are. I'm still wearing masks when I go out, only rarely go out to eat in a restaurant and I'm vaxxed and boostered twice. It doesn't mean I can't get it, but hopefully keeps me from having to go to the hospital or worse.
But there are people who cannot get the vaccine, I have a special needs niece that can't...so every time she goes out, she's in danger of catching the virus. It just seems like the very, very least people could do is wear a stupid cloth on their face. Why is that so difficult for some people? I don't get it.
I feel lucky that at least I live in an area where people don't seem to care if you're wearing a mask or not.

I keep thinking I should make a journal about the covid journey. Easter 2020 - lockdown. Summer/fall 2020 - bans on certain interstate travel. New Jersey people can go to Connecticut, but not step foot in Rhode Island, but Rhode Islanders could cross over into Connecticut. I proposed a family trip to Mystic Connecticut where we could get together to see my grandchild, but my daughter was terrified to go out. Easter 2021 - I got to visit in Rhode Island, and things had loosened up enough to allow a mother-daughter excursion to a restaurant. There were plastic barriers between every table, hepa filters everywhere, and menu was only via QR code. Easter 2022 - Went back to Rhode Island. We went to the same restaurant, but now seating is not distanced at all. We're vaxed and boosted, so, crossing fingers, we dined.
Other daughter and her family, w kids aged 4 and 7, flew to Florida Monday morning with mask rules. Now they will have to fly back with no mask rules. On the other side of the question, I received a text from the nursing home where I have been assigned a resident for pro bono representation, that all staff from this day on, must wear N95 or KN95 masks AND eye shields. Go figure.
We'll have to assess each situation moving forward.

I feel lucky that at least I live in an area where people don't seem to care if you're wearing a mask or not. Wearing a mask goes both ways, to protect yourself as well as others. Your niece is a perfect example of the more vulnerable people that need to be protected. That's why I see it as a duty to also get vaccinated, for our own protection against serious illness as well as to reduce the risk for others. Btw. pretty much everybody is still masking up here in Palo Alto at the grocery stores.

Many of the country artists had a problem with it. And their industry was shut down like the rest. Even if they had enough money because they were rich to ride it out, they have crew and others who were not as wealthy. If there had been more cooperation, it could have been controlled faster. I am fully vaccinated but I put on my mask when I go out around a lot of others as a habit. Many people still wear them around here too.
