10 bands who didn’t let the death of a key member stop them reuniting
Queen
After the death of the seemingly irreplaceable Freddie Mercury in 1991, even guitarist Brian May and Roger Taylor figured Queen was history. Fast-forward 20 years and one ill-fated union with ex-Free singer Paul Rodgers, and the pair hooked up with ex-American Idol contestant Adam Lambert for a retooled version of the band. Even the most entrenched sceptic was won over by the new boy’s Mercury-level star wattage, as well as his refusal to be a tribute act version of his predecessor. Queen are as big now as they were first time around, so yeah, it turned out pretty well. www.loudersound.com/features/10-bands-who-didnt-let-the-death-of-key-member-stop-them-reuniting Love this….Love this too. Also loved your post from a few days ago. Saw it too late to comment. But I agree, Adam is in his prime and not close to being too old to stay fit.

Thank you Lurleene Just look at Brian! The elephant in this wonderful, protective, Atop room is the reality that Adam has lost his looks because of too many calories and appalling style choices - it’s not the magic 40. So it can be reversed. That’s good. And I prefer to live in hope

Thank you Lurleene Just look at Brian! The elephant in this wonderful, protective, Atop room is that Adam has lost his looks because of too many calories and appalling style choices - not the magic 40. So it can be reversed. That’s good. And I prefer to live in hope I feel for him. I’ve fought my weight my whole life. I’m just not naturally thin. And lockdown made the battle impossible. I just could not fight any more. The death of a very special family member and the challenges of trying to keep our business alive meant diet was bottom of my priority list. I know Adam has talked about his heartbreak of Velvet not getting the response it deserved. Maybe he’s been through the same as me. BUT, my business is recovering and our heartbreaking loss is being dealt with, and I am losing the pounds I gained. Let’s pray that the wonderful healing powers of Brian and Roger are having the same effect. CoViD and lockdown were so so hard xx

I’d accept many causes for an extreme weight gain but the one that makes no sense to me is “turning 40”. Imo it’s the most ridiculous explanation possible, metabolic changes and all…
Adam decided to go for a natural loss “by touring”. And it works. And we see the difference in his presentation on stage, he obviously feels more like himself now. Hope he’ll be able to maintain it past the tour or in the worst case go for all those vast body shaping resources LA and his wallet can offer.
i was showing Nessun Dorma to my son, (who last saw Adam live at the MSG in Aug. 2019 - so that’s the “base line”.) First thing out of his mouth :”wow, he gained so much weight “.. and that’s from Italy! When we all think he looks awesome. Tbh, it was hard to hear …
ya.. an adult… has his own parents…all true
