I think the "not hooky" description comes after one listen by these guys. Then all of a sudden one finds oneself humming something and thinks, "Hmm what is that?" Then the realization kicks in that it is the BTIKM chorus. "Hmmm, maybe this song does have a hook after all!" Second listen and it is now an earworm! That's exactly what happened to me this morning! I woke up with a song repeating itself in my head. It took me a few seconds to realize that it was BTIKM. I left my radio on last night hoping to hear it, because a couple of days ago rabbitrabbit said that Mix 107.9 in Salt Lake City has played it, but I still haven't heard it on the radio. (I have heard "Mr. Know It All" about 3 billion times, so I know they'll play Idol alum.) Maybe they played BTIKM when I dozed off and it implanted itself in my subconscious. I definitely consider the song hooky. It might take more than one listen, beca use it's not one of those songs that just repeats the same six words over and over until you want to rip off your ears and throw them at the radio (I heard more than one of those last night), but I find myself belting, "If I wanted to go I would have gone by now..." several times throughout any given day. What!?!! Didn't we find love in a hopeless place? Love and hate that song to death. I love the beat, but it is almost devoid of lyrics.

Also, remember that this guy has heard at least three songs, and had a definite opinion about which song he liked the best, and which he felt was the hookier song, so any other song would seem less "hooky" to him by comparison, but listeners haven't heard any of these songs. They will just be judging BTIKM on its own merit. Anyway, not going to angst here. Everything is good! This is the fun time. We finally get to hear new music, see Adam on TV, and hear new interviews. I want to fully enjoy this time because this cycle is a long one, and there will be other times like the previous year again without new music or new appearances. I love the song; I know I will love the album, and I will love getting to hear Adam sing again and do the out in public part of his job, and that is all good for me!! Yay! Exactly!! (I totally think you're right that his opinion is based on him having heard the other songs, which is a good thing.) We have been waiting an entire year for this!! First pics of video yesterday!! We haven't had a new music video since spring of 2010 – a REAAAAALLLYY long time!!! And we should see it in a few weeks! The train hasn't yet left the station and this is going to be a long, exciting ride.

WUTWUTWUT
Why the worries? I totally understand where this UK DJ is coming from and what he is basically is saying is: DJs like me are sitting in our start holes and are ready to run with it, we just need to be allowed.
He basically tells us:
a) he knows how insanely talented and good Adam is b) he wants Adam's music to be played on the air c) he just does not have the go ahead yet, but it is just a question of time and some elements out of his control d) if he is making any snide comment whatsoever, then it is against Shoshanna and Co. (pick of wrong song, it is their job now to make Adam succeed in UK...)
That is fundamentally different than what Adam's situation was in round 1 (FYE). In those days, a) DJs had no clue who he was and could not care one bit about some American Idol wannabe b) Adam had to be thankful for any press mention at all, and it was only trashy boulevard press that even took the bait c) He had to put up with mis-constructed sentences and quotes, not only about gay-gay and guyliner, but also I remember absurd stuff about drug use for those who are mentally unstable and yes, Lord Gagagagagagaga....none of it made any sense or represented him.
Compare that to now: The DJs are twittering about him, lobbying for him and foaming at their mouths to finally be allowed to play his music. It's some upper echelons that are still trying to preserve some perceived house brand and are not quite sure whether Adam will fit that image.
It's a huge change in my opinion and now it is just a question of how in detail this will play out in the UK, will it be this single or the next one that gets the job done? I agree with Q3 that this single is not ideal for UK market. But the dominoes in the UK are lined up and now it is just a question of when the puff comes and they will all fall. Once Adam breaks in the UK, it will be quick and everywhere at once, because those DJs are ready.

The song definitely has a hook. I played it a lot the first few days, but haven's listened to it in a while. I usually have many different songs in my head. Something is RL happens and it reminds me of a song. However, I've been singing BTIKM for several days now. No other songs. It might not be my favorite song ever (although I really like it), but it definitely gets stuck in my head.

From Cassie: So, the UK either climbs on board for BTIKM and the album or it foolishly denies itself that singular pleasure in favor of mundane crap. After a couple of appearances and the release of the video, BTIKM sails to the top of the charts, or it is a moderate hit. Ultimately, it doesn't matter to me. I AM GETTING NEW ADAM MUSIC TO BASK IN. Adam is getting enuf money to buy dimmers, enuf fame to take his boyfriend to Bora Bora, and enuf respect to work with the best in the biz, including Queen. It's all good.
I totally agree. You can’t please everyone, so you take your best shot. Adam has “found his place” in the music industry, and if it turns out not to be as big as Gaga or Katy, so be it. He can sing, he is finally getting the appreciation he deserves, he will never not have a gig, his life is changed for the better by 5000%, so worrying about what “might happen or not happen” is an exercise in futility. By May we will see where things are going with TRESPASSING, but one thing I am sure of, it will generate lots of love and attention and a tour will follow, a tour for us to celebrate and attend and dissect, and videotape and cherish until the NEXT album comes out that we can angst over.
Life is so good in Adam’s fandom right now that I can’t find a thing to whine about except that I don’t live in Southern California and therefore cannot attend the tapings of ELLEN and LENO. And I’ve been whining about that since AI8, so it’s getting old, even to me.

Wow, what a few days it has been!!!! So much happening and even more to look forward to!!! So excited for the live performances of BTIKM & hoping for interviews with Leno & Ellen, but I suspect that they may just be performances - interviews may be when album is released? Well I've decided to only expect performances, then if we get interviews it will be a BONUS!!! :D Am on holiday with my parents for the next few days & tonite we were watching a programme on TV then I "channel surfed" during the ads, and I didn't even know what channel I was changing to, but suddenly I see a pic of a young Adam on my TV!!!!! It was Adam Lambert, Behind the Music showing on MTV!!!!! Was a totally unexpected thrill and I confess to squeeing in surprise & delight just a wee bit!! ;D Had only missed the first few minutes, and my parents hadn't seen it, so watched with them. My mother was an Elvis fan and I truly believe in today's world, if she was me & Adam was Elvis, she would stan Elvis like I do Adam!!! (hope that makes sense...LOL!) so she kinda understands my obsession.... & Dad is an opera singer so really appreciates Adam's vocal prowess at least! :D [/quot Just on page one but love your post...sounds like a great family !

This was just posted at adamquotedaily: adamquotedaily.blogspot.com/2012/01/without-doubt-09012012.htmlHi Gloria I wrote this poem for an English assignment. We were supposed to write a free-verse poem with some sort of "deeper meaning" or something like that. So I tried writing one about Adam. I showed it to all my glambert friends at school and they all liked it and said I should email it to you. So..... here it is! Beautiful Soul By Helena He lights up the stage Sings with true passion Connects with the audience Makes them feel things That they've never felt before But underneath all the eyeliner and glitter Is compassion Understanding A beautiful soul A person who doesn't let anything bring him down A person who always wears a smile on his face A person who spreads his message of love everywhere he goes A person who won't give up on the fight for equality A hero My hero My reason to keep persevering My reason to not give up on life Because, When my heart breaks open, When I'm soaked in my tears, Or when I just don't know what everyone wants from me, He seems to be the only one that knows me Better than I know myself -Helena (@gleebert1324)

Also this: (adamquotedaily) Mary S:
Thanks for the lovely comment and please be sure to read this article
Mary S. said... I'm again amazed at the beauty and positivity absolutely oozing from this blog. Gloria, you are the queen of love of our boy. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!
Sometimes there just aren't enough words. I simply must highlight this blog within your blog "Fighting the Good Fight" by NoAngel. It should be required reading for all Glamberts as Adam begins to step out into the mainstream again. Every word she uttered were words I've been thinking and wanting to express, and now she did so perfectly.
PLEASE READ (if you missed it yesterday)
And thank you to NoAngel. www.adamtopia.com/index.cgi?board=daily&action=display&thread=654Thank you NoAngel from Gloria and her readers at adamquotedaily, and from all of us here. If anyone missed NoAngel's excellent essay yesterday, go read it now!
