A few days ago I made a post here addressing the relative silence about Adam's mini tour in October - here and elsewhere - as I have been wondering for a while now why he hasn't sold more tickets so far. I can't help but check ticket sales for Adam's "Upcoming Events" pretty regularly and I keep shaking my head how the much accoladed front man for Queen can't sell better for his own concerts. And we are not talking about large venues here. It's likely a combination of factors as discussed yesterday, but I do not want to put the blame solely on society and the music industry. I understand that it is an effort both physically and financially to get to see Adam solo, but it used to be different and fans went out of their ways to get to attend his concerts. To be honest, the Adam that we fell in love with has changed as well. We are all aware of it. Still, to me it feels like celebrating and getting re-acquainted with a dear relative in October. Since I don’t live in the US, I can’t really talk for people there. But I wouldn’t move mountains to attend these concerts. Why? Because I’ve the feeling that it won’t be that new. Adam hasn’t had new music for over 2 years. I‘m not really a fan of Velvet either. And when I look at his Florida tour, I see a rather short setlist with a mix of his greatest (and some latest) hits and covers. And the covers were more than his own songs. If Adam wanted me to travel to see him and spend lots of money, then he has to offer more than that. First and foremost at the moment: new music. And I think, if he wants the masses to attend his concerts, he also needs a couple of new songs, that give solo Adam more visibility. Or a concept that tells casual music fans more than „The Witch Hunt“. What does that even mean?

I kind of agree with the new music thing...I do love his covers however. I wouldn't even mind an entire concert with just his covers. They're always so good. And I have to admit I kind of miss the Adam of the GNT tours.

And I don’t expect him to do as many Queen songs this time, because in my opinion, he did play these in Florida to get back on track for the big QAL tour. And to be honest: Most of these Queen covers don’t sound that good with his own band. At least not, when you’ve ever heard the real deal. But some of the funkier songs work well. My problem with his latest concerts (and this upcoming ones) is a bit, that I don’t even have any idea, what to expect. And if I have that problem - what should casual fans or Queen fans expect? His solo music? Old songs, newer songs? Queen songs? Covers? I mean, yes, I do expect that the title „The Witch Hunt“ mostly refers to Adams costums and the stage setting. But is that really it?

I can’t attend Adam’s shows for a couple of reasons, but assuming I could, I too would wish for new music and for a set that lasts longer than 70 minutes or so. I did see the GNT almost 12 years ago (!!!) and although I knew the length of the show, it seemed to go by in a flash.
As for the meaning the name “Witch Hunt,”, I think he’s playing both with the Halloween theme and with the constant talk from someone whose name I don’t want to mention talking about a “witch hunt” for the past several years… so a little political jab from Adam.

Ya, I don’t think it’s any more complicated than his love for Halloween. Gives him a chance to put horns or fangs or god knows what on as a costume. I’m sure he’ll make LGBTQ related comments, but it’s preaching to the choir mostly im hoping it sells well so as not to impede any future shows (once his new music is out).

I just want this rather short tour of mid-sized venues to sell out, or nearly sell out. He should be appreciated on his own merits and his own music. So frustrating! I hope the tickets sell better as the tour approaches. And like I said, I hope Warner Bros has some plan to give him strong support. He needs new marketing strategies or something. His music is as good as anybody's.

His music is as good as anybody's. First we have to wait and see, what these meetings with Warner Music are about. And it’s Warner Music UK ( not US!). Why Warner Music UK? I‘ve discussed that somewhere else and was told this: „Warner Music UK is also home to the UK outpost of WMG’s independent label and artist distribution and services company, ADA.“ So maybe Adam kinda stays independent. He sure needs some new marketing strategies - and in his case worldwide. But at the same time, I don’t see Adam going back to a big label and agreeing on one of their usual contracts. Not after he fought hard to get out of there. It‘s all still a mistery!

I certainly would not expect someone like you to travel all the way from Germany to see Adam here in the US, after all the QAL concerts that you attended this summer. I know you are a big QAL fan. In terms of "no new music" from Adam, I think the same goes for QAL as they have pretty much played the same set of hits over multitude of years, with variations of course, but I guess when you love the music and their musicianship that's all that matters. Plus they have lots of hits and the resources to put on a show! I am primarily a fan of Adam's voice and I love most of his music and many of his covers, so that's enough for me in terms of expectations. Do I need the OTT make-up and the costumes? No. But I'll take what I get and then I'll see and re-evaluate. After all, I consider myself one of his original fans. Now I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will perform for 90 minutes at least. I think the title "Witch Hunt" is both a common Halloween theme as well as a bit of a political reference. The "former guy" has used that term a lot whenever in trouble or in need to defend his actions.

sizzling63Thanks for your reply! I didn’t think, that you expect us European fans to travel to the US for these concerts. I just liked to think about, how I feel about them and possibly spending a lot of money to see them. 😁

I'm still really hoping that they'll have a virtual option for this mini tour...I'll certainly buy a ticket if they do.
And considering it'll be Halloween, I'm pretty sure we'll be talking about outfit(s) lol. You know Adam loves a good outfit and shoes.
Love the guy, can't see that changing any time soon.
