In light of the recent conversation about Adam's solo career and ticket sales, etc., I wonder what plans Warner Bros. Music has when it comes to supporting Adam? A major label doesn't take on an artist for no good reason. I hope they have real, tangible strategies that will help him. Maybe that elusive radio play.
Lots of mid-level artists and bands find a way to be performing almost all the time. They play smaller venues, often across the country. They have loyal followings. They do not fill arenas and stadiums. But they have a full performing schedule from year to year. I don't know how Adam's solo career will proceed post-QAL. His core fan base is loyal but not huge. I would like to see him perform solo more often in a variety of venue sizes and get a wider range of people to care about his own music. He can keep on doing film, animation, TV stints whenever possible.
A singer with his credentials should fill mid-size tour venues with no problem. But what do I know? I'm just a fan.

Imo he'll have a better chance of a visible career in Europe, moving to London makes a lot of sense....Unfortunately...

Imo he'll have a better chance of a visible career in Europe, moving to London makes a lot of sense....Unfortunately... Honestly...our societies in north america...particularly the usa....are becoming less and less tolerant of diversity...let alone accepting. It looks like a good 50% of Americans are ready to wage war on non-traditional women and the whole of the queer community. And the tolerant seem loath to make a big fuss and often even demonize the more vocal left by ghettoizing them and blaming them for the less adventurouses' losses. A recipe for stasis, it would seem. Certainly does not bode well for Adam and his tribe. It is the 'law' that takes down a rule...the odd exceptions simply proves it is a rule or norm.
Sigh...just makes me want to go back to bed and curl up in a little ball...:(

Adam seems to be playing the same mid-size (1500-4000, a few bigger) venues he always played for his solo tours in the US and abroad (when he goes abroad). Maybe they are not all sold out but many have been and the tours have been successful. We will see how well the new events sold when we get closer to the concerts. Most of the events being protested, and shut down by the intolerant, have been drag queen events that involve children. Even with some LGBT progress moving backwards in the US and abroad, I don't think it will impact Adam's shows. He is neither a drag queen or a transgender woman (the biggest targets) and he came into the business when it was even harder being an out gay artist. And he was successful. For me, I don't care for the excessive caked on eye makeup (hides his beautiful eyes, imo) but that has nothing to do with being gay. Most gay men are not even interested in wearing any makeup let alone OTT makeup. Adam has an established solo career, outside of Queen, that appeals to a diverse audience so I expect it to continue. He is not some unknown artist playing in underground clubs because that is the only thing available for him. Can things become more difficult for him? Yes, anything is possible. But hopefully they will not to the point he has to leave his own country.

A few days ago I made a post here addressing the relative silence about Adam's mini tour in October - here and elsewhere - as I have been wondering for a while now why he hasn't sold more tickets so far. I can't help but check ticket sales for Adam's "Upcoming Events" pretty regularly and I keep shaking my head how the much accoladed front man for Queen can't sell better for his own concerts. And we are not talking about large venues here. It's likely a combination of factors as discussed yesterday, but I do not want to put the blame solely on society and the music industry. I understand that it is an effort both physically and financially to get to see Adam solo, but it used to be different and fans went out of their ways to get to attend his concerts. To be honest, the Adam that we fell in love with has changed as well. We are all aware of it. Still, to me it feels like celebrating and getting re-acquainted with a dear relative in October.
